Best Engine Combo

Hi, I'm new here and I was wondering what you guys think are good engine combos. The car is an 88 Iroc with the 5.7 and 3.27 gears. I'm looking to hopefully get the car into the 13.7 or lower area without sacrificing much gas mileage or drivability. If I can i'd like to not change the plenum or runners. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Full exhaust and nitrous (100 shot)! That will be good for at least 13.40@105 MPH. It doesn't get any easier than that.

Full exhaust (headers, cat-back, and hi-flo cat), free mods (gutted airboxes, timing, ported plenum, TB coolant bypass, relocated MAT, tire pressure), plus the usual mods (airfoil, pulleys, ignition box, K&N's) and a high-stall torque converter should get you well into the 13's. Also, if you haven't done so recently, do a full tune-up and set the IAC and TPS. These mods should actually improve your gas mileage a good bit! Info on just about everything I mentioned can be found in the tech articles elsewhere on Thirdgen.org--good luck!

Car: 87 IROC
Engine: LB9 for the moment
Transmission: T5
you have a car that should run about 14.7... usual mods won't get a full second... more like .5 (if you are lucky) cam and heads will give you better flow (this is on top of the other mods)... or you need NO2 or a blower...

ps Gears wouldn't hurt either 3.45+...
