Having TPI troubles still... PLEASE HELP!
My '91 GTA 305/5-speed has a problem yet. It will just die sometimes at stoplights and even worse it will die when driving. I can be driving and notice a weird feeling... when I push the clutch in the rpms drop and it dies or idles at about 200-300rpms... NOT joking. What the he!% is going on? EGR? TPS? IAC? It also stumbles sometimes on acceleration. Can anyone help? Thanks for anything!

I'll check the fuel filter, but I figured it would do it all the time.
IAC- How do I clean it? It did look pretty dirty when I took it out, but the length was OK so I put it back in. What do you think?
THANKS!!!!

Is a 91 a mass air car? I dont remember my car was doing the same thing and I never would get any codes then one time I got a code for the mass air sencer but I had replaced it not but two weeks before so I cleared the codes and to see if it would come back before I whent and got a second mass air sencer problem didnt go away bot the code never came back then one day when I was puting brake fluid in the car I just hapend to set my hand on the conector goiny to the mass air flow burn off realay ,mass air power relay and the fuel pump relay and the car started to have one of its fitts and did not want to runn so I wigled the harness and it ran fine again then I wigled it a gain and it ran like crap over time the harness going to the conectors was shot and they would short to gether and then the mass air sensor would quit working. then I got thinking about it and the car would always runn good in the morning untill I whent over the railroad traxs. Any whay not long after that the hole harness had a melt down my car got hit in the front before and the body shop cut part of the wiring harness apart and just taped it back to gether along side the pos battery cable that they also cut and twited and taped back to gether and the to finly made their way together and melted a good bit of it be fore I realived what hapend.Any way I got to looking at a few freands cars and their wiring looked just as bad at those relays so you may want to check in to it.

I would check the IAC!! There's an article in the "tech articles" here on thirdgen.org about how to check the IAC!! The reason I suggest the IAC is because I once unhooked mine and when I hooked it back up the connector didn't seat properly!! When I started the car it idles VERY low and would stumble and die several times!! Sounds just like the problem you're having!! I unhooked my IAC again and hooked it back up again and then presto! the car worked fine! Your problem is probably just a BAD IAC!! You probably need to just replace it!!

Clean off the pintle and the spring and screw area with some throttle body cleaner. Clean out the passages in the throttle body too.
If you have access to a voltmeter, make sure the throttle position sensor is working ok, they do some really weird things when they go bad.

One other thing, to add to what MadMax said.... when you are spraying that IAC pintle, make sure you spray it with the pintle pointing down so you don't get the cleaning solution in the motor itself.

THANKS! I'll clean it Saturday and see what happens. I've already checked my TPS with a digital voltmeter and it seemed fine, but I think it could be going HAYWIRE sometimes while driving. Oh well. Thanks for the help.

Here's another maybe. The pickup coil in the Distributor. Really an important part (only costs about $8) that can give you all sorts of fits..... Takes about two hours to complete and that is from removing the distributor tkae it apart and replace.
