My 88 GTA 305 has 3.23's, the 5 speeds had 3.73's, and the 350's had 3.23s as well.....i think.

Here is how it was:

*305 and 350 autos had 2.73's or 2.77's and 3.23's or 3.27's depending on model year.

*305 manuals had 3.08's and 3.42's optional with the G92 performance package.

*All had POSI to my knowledge!

No GTA's ever had 3.73's from the factory. Some early Z28's had 3.73's I think, but thats it for those stump pullers.

Don't forget the 3.45 nine bolt gear set for the 5 speed GTA's

I have my freinds 88 gta out in my garage I just put in a trans and saw when switch in the speedo gears it had a black driven and a red drive. now IF these are the correct gears 3.00? or close too that it is an 88 tpi 305.

 

I knew I'd forget one... 3.45's. Oh well! As for the motor in his car just check the vin #. Look at 8th figit. If its F its a 305TPI, if its 8 its a 350TPI and if its E, its a 305TBI. It wouldn't be a TBI though if its a GTA, plus I'm sure you know what one looks like anyways. I'll shut up now! haha Later

An 88 350 TPI f-body will have either 2.77 9-bolt or 3.27 9-bolt.
