Re: weird accelerating problem
check your fuel pressure. Could be a fuel pump. Check it with the regulator connected to vacuum and rev the engine. Should spike to ~45psi when revved. With the vacuum on at idle should be around 35 psi i think. With it disconnected should be a constant 45 to 50 psi. if not you have a problem with the pump. That was my problem when my pump just wasnt putting out anymore. Then if it is i recommend racetronix kit. excellent stuff.

Re: weird accelerating problem
i halvent had that code but code 44 indicates a lean condition. but i know what u mean it happens to me a lot lately and its not cool when u have cars coming at you in traffic and ur tryin to get out of the way while watching a car come bombing at you. i have a feeling my car is gonna bite me in the *** and need a pump, but at least i know how to do it myself, just a pain. i changed my fuel filter 3 months ago, my injectors are all new, i just have to check my fuel pressure.

Re: weird accelerating problem
iv had that happen to me afew times it just spudders along trying to get out of the way. its like COME ON CAR!!!!! GO!!!!
anyways. im hoping i dont have to replace the fuel pump.
i replaced the fuel filter few days ago. didnt help much. new spart plugs. and wires. still no good. if you get your car fixed up let me know.
its being a real pain trying to figure it out.
im hoping i dont have to replace the injectors.
by the way. are the injectors fairly cheap?
if they are i might just go pick some up then if they arnt to expensive.
the fuel pump on the other hand. i have no idea how to replace it. but it looks like a real pain in the butt.

Re: weird accelerating problem
i did the ford fuel injectors, were a lot cheaper and work really good, bit bigger there a 24lbs injector, the fords for all 8 were 450 at the dealership as opposed to the gm injectors costing almost 200 a peice and i use to work and a gm dealer and still that pricey

Re: weird accelerating problem
Really the only way to test the fuel pump is to hook up a pressure guage to the schraeder valve and make sure it is putting out 45 psi or more. A real good test is to leave the guage hooked up while you are driving so that you can see it when the car bogs (preferably not in an intersection, LOL). However, with an aftermarket FPR and Ford injectors 24 lbs, I'd be willing to think maybe it's a case of too rich, which could cause your bogging. If your FPR is adjustable, I'd try going down with the pressure 1 or 2 notches. If the FPR is non-adjustable, I have heard many tales of rich running engines with Ford 24 lb injectors in these cars, everything else being stock.

No, you are lucky josh. TBI injectors are much less than $200. TPI injectors brand-new are $200, for stock 22 lb replacements (on 5.7 L), or so that I've seen. And there are 8 of them...

Re: weird accelerating problem
I have seen them brand new anywhere from $70 to $150 and more if you really wanna drop the coin. A good price if you asked me. I wish sometimes I had the TBI, LOL! TPI is a great system until something breaks, LOL! With proper care however, it is a pretty reliable system (cheap to maintain) and when you start pushing 200K miles as many of us are doing here with the 3rd gens, these things start to happen.

Re: weird accelerating problem
If your motor is running fine, don't worry about it. After 275K, whatever was gonna break has already broken! Congrats on 275K! People like to speak unfavorably of our cars, and to see you run that many miles is a credit to you keeping up on maintenance, as well as the previous owner(s). You have a Bitchin' Camaro in every sense of the word! I just got the OCT issue of Consumer Reports, they are touting owners of cars with greater than 200K miles. You should submit to them your story! That is awesome! They'd never believe you when you tell them what model car you have. Us Third Gen lovers already knew that! My GTA could break down every other mile and I'd still love it! (It wouldn't do that)
