Can a home made cold air setup be made out of???

How is every one doing today?
My question is, for a 86 tpi car can a cold air induction be made out of 3" exhaust tubing bent at a 90 degree angle before the throttle body, to an maf,, to a k&n air filter with some of that thermo rap around the metal tubing. The K&N air filter would end, inside the pass fender.
Do any one think that this would work?
thanx for any input!

Why would the air in your fender be any cooler than the stock filter location in front of the radiator? I always thought this is one of the best places to pick up cool air as well as being easier to make a functional ram air set-up.

To answer your question, yes, anything is possible.

I agree with what was said before. You can do it I'm sure, but it is not very logical in my opinion. You have the air coming from in front of the radiator, before it ever gets to the engine bay. I'm sure temperatures there are much cooler than over by the fender. I could be wrong, but I don't know. Also, if you just use some dryer ducting, you can make one that hooks up to your fog light openings and then get cool air direct from outside. Just something to think about. Do whatever floats your boat. I do think that your idea would work though.

Even if he does have a TA, what I said will still work. If he has the ground effects with the fog lights, get some dryer ducting and make a ram air setup. If not, then you can run it from underneath the front of the car like the way March has their setup for the Mustang. Just making suggestions.

That is a very nice looking car. Are those white stripes running over the top? Have you had it repainted or anything? Looks good

That is a nice a** car. Is it hard to keep a black car clean? I was thinking about having my car painted black this summer. I have a 86ta that was in a accident. The whole front end was smashed up pretty bad so What i did was installed a 87 IROCZ nose on the ta's body.I think it looks pretty good so far.Right now the car is maroon(TA rear section),new black front fenders, Iroc daytona raised hood (with the holes on the side) & white Iroc bumper cover.

the car is custom urethane black base with silver stripes in the same color as the screaming chicken logos.
the car was painted 4 years ago like this and I just take real good care of it.
black is the hardest color to paint well but its worth it at night when It looks the best.
there are more pics on my site and I should have info and pics of my ramair install soon.

someone told me the best way for your motor to have good cold induction is for you intake duct to be in a straight line such as used in 91-92 z28's forget the 90 degree ducts. Believe it or not u can get about 2-3 hp just by doing this. Sure what is 2-3 hp but every little bit helps.
