Porting the Plenum???

Few Questions...
What Exactly is porting the plenum doing? Like Gutting the TPI unit right???? Making the inside of it wider and all??? To of course alow more air into the engine...

DO you have to take your plenum to a machine shop to have it ported??? I have no idea how to do this or what tools are needed so i took it to two machine shops i know of, NAPA and Car-Quest, and neither one said they do that kinda work .... I dont know of any other machine shops around that might do this and its something i want done.

And is it a noticable difference when you port it??? If anyone has some be4 and after pictures, id love to see em...

Oh, and what do people mean when they say "Polish" it?

this site also has a link I think that was at the bottom of the page that tells you how to polish the plenum.

i wouldnt pay anyone to port your plenum, its too easy of a job,,, follow the article and you'll be fine,, if you dont have a dremmel just use a drill with a rasp bit on the end.. its an easy project.

If you port only the plenum, wouldnt it caus to much air traffic and "slow" the car it down if you dont upgrade the runners to??? How about the TB?

Porting the plenum, even without doing the runners, will help. Especially the EGR walls right behind the throttle body. I've got some good pictures, but you won't have to go as far as I did, because you don't have the runners.

pretty much all you are doing when you port the plenum is take out the egr walls that slow down the air flow,, it dosent cause too much air flow , it just smooths out airflow.
