Holly 52MM Throttle Body on 305 TPI?
I was looking at a new throttle body because mine is worn out ( famous 1500RPM in park )
My question that the Holly 52 MM, part # HLY-112-506, is for a 5.7 TPI only according to the holly webby..why does it not fit a 305 TPI?
THe Holly 58 MM, part # HLY-112-507, fits 305 & 350 TPI.
Now, I know the 58 MM is overkill for a 305, but it looks like the only one for my car made by Holly..Am I missing something different for a 305 and 350 TPI for a 1991 Z?
Any help, or suggestion of a better TB, please LMK.
Tks Troy

misprint, if it fits a 350 it will fit a 305.
Summit sells one of their own brand for around $250 Not sure if it's any better or worse than the Holley.

It will fit, although you can fix the one you have and save some $$, remove the tb and clean it up with some tb cleaner, make sure the bores are clean. then take some fine grit sand paper (600 to 800 grit) and open the throttle blades and lightly sand the bores until the the blade no longer stick. then clean the TB again to wash away and sand left behind. reinstall the tb and perform the IAC minimum idle adjustment and your done. I have done this on countless cars and it works great.

Re: Holly 52MM Throttle Body on 305 TPI?
I emailed Holly to see exactly why it dont fit a 305 TPI, with post the answer I receive here.
I can't take it apart and clean it, not a Mech and dont pretend to be one!! The problem is that I live in a small place, and there is no help here. A good example of that was when I changed the rear from 2.73 to 3.73, GM said there was no way to fix the speedo!!!!
A few questions here, and presto, the right plastic gears and speedo dead on.
Will keep you guys updated!

Re: Holly 52MM Throttle Body on 305 TPI?
As mentioned above 305 and 350 throttle bodies are the same. so if you buy one it will work. the only difference is the throttle bracket on years 85-88 is one way and 89-92 are another thats it. so if you buy a throttle body, make sure the year is correct for your car and thats it.

Re: Holly 52MM Throttle Body on 305 TPI?
Have not received an answer from Holly.com yet, but will post when I do. Thanks for the replys guys!
I did note that Holly TB, HLY-112-502, was for 1985 to 1998, and the HLY-112-506 was from 1989 to 1992 and was wondering the difference, and now know it is the throttle bracket!
Looks like the one for me is:

I figure just as well to get a new IAC valve and Throttle Position Sensor and have it all done!

Re: Holly 52MM Throttle Body on 305 TPI?
I know its overkill, but my stock one is worn out, just wanted to replace with a good quality TB.
From the informed here, It will physically fit a 305 TPI, so I guess it would be the one to get.
Unless I overlooked something, time to spend some $!!

Ha Ha HA gotta love "tecks"
The other answer from the tech at holly
"Hello,
No it will work for the 5.0 but if the engine is stock it is just on the large side for the 5.0. If the engine is modified it will work better.
Thanks Shane "
One teck says no, the other yes
time to spend!!

the other guy had no clue and is just collecting a paycheck.
From my expierences here at TGO. Bad information is rarely
given, and if it is... It is immediately flamed and corrected
accordingly!
Good luck

a 52 mm tb is not overkill on a 305 you wont lose any power by boltin one on , an you will gain somethin. if you do more mods later on you will already have it. granted a 48mm is fine also.
