Where to get stainless steel bolts for SLP runners?
Where to get stainless steel bolts for SLP runners?
The bolts on my runners are developing rust on them, I figure I'll get a new set from SLP and they guy told me that the new ones will rust that they do that. So I'm looking for som stainless steels one but have not had any luck. Does anyone have any stainless steel ones and where did you get them? The lenths I need are 80mm and 30mm I can find the 30mm but the longest I've found are 70mm which are too short. Also will just hex bolts work well on the runners? I was looking for the torx type or allen head type kinda like the factory and the SLP ones come as it seems eaiser to reach the bolts with these type.
You can try ARP through summit or something, they make stainless for about every application.

Well, Totally Stainless makes a really nice complete set for TPI cars but that won't help you because the long ones you are looking for (to fit the SLP's) are not standard for a TPI. I'll try and find their phone number if you wanna give them a call to see if they have anything else that might work.

I got allen head stainless 3/8-16 screws and SS lockwashers in all the assorted lengths from a local suppier (Circle Nut&Bolt). I could get you their phone # if you are interested. I would convert your metric measurements to inch. Bolts come in 1/4" increments.

You need Metric thread bolts anyway, so you may not want to convert to english measurements.
M8.0, I believe. Maybe you can check with McMaster-Carr. they have lots of stainless stuff!
Maybe I should build up some stainless bolt kits and sell them...
Here you go: McMaster Carr has them.
M8 x 1.25 stainless socketed cap screw:
80 MM length: P/N 91292A212 - $64.37 / box (100 per box)
30MM length: P/N 91292A149 - $29.10 / box (qty. 100 per box)

Should I buy the bolts and sell some kits? each kit would sell for about $25. Is anyone interested? Email me privately if you are. Thanks. I try to stay 'low profile', at least until I can justify starting an official business and doing some real advertising on thirdgen...

ws6transam, I would have wanted a set. I ended up getting the SLP bolts again and was just going to paint the heads of the bolts with some engine paint to see if that helps. But I would have rather had the stainless steel ones. It's just I'm real close to getting her back together now ( I hope) Thanks, Jason Cromer

I went to the local hardware store. It's an Ace Hardware branch. Huge assortment of bolts.

I got mine from McMaster Carr, like WS6transam, and yes they are M8's. Here is what they look like installed... Also you do not have to buy 100 of them McMaster Carr will sell broken quantities... I bought 10.
