Best 1.6 Full Roller Rocker the fit under stock covers?

What 1.6 full roller rockers fit under stock L98 valve covers with stock L98 heads? What are the best, and what are the best bang for the buck, but still reliable 1.6 roller rockers.

I use Crane Cams race gold 1.6 full roller rockers. They run around $300 new from JEGS. I bought them off a friend for $180. I love them. They fit under stock valve covers, and later my chrome ones with no modifications done.

No offence to anyone running the Crane Golds, but they are a rip-off. Buy some Harland And Sharpe roller rockers. They are just as good if not better then the cranes, cost less, and thats what Top Fuel Dragsters run. if its good enough for them, its good enough for your car too IMO. Summit carries them.

I just put a set of comp cams magnum roller tip rockers on my Z. They were just under $200, make sure you get the self alighning ones.

Do they have self aligning rockers? If so, thanks for the advice. Crane is surely ripping off a bunch of people.

GMPP sells the LT4 rockers for a bit less than the Cranes. They are made by Crane and are identical to the 1.6 Gold Races, except for color.

Hey RCR, just a note on the GMPP rr's vs the Crane Golds. I too was told by Crane and a tech at GM Customer Assistence Center that hey were the same except for the gold anodizing on the Cranes and the clear for the GM p/n's, and the Crane logo on the tips vs the Chevy Bowtie (unless you had the true LT4 blue rr's with the 7/16" studs). However, there is ONE major difference that may have just cost me some valve guides.

Depending on your cam, and in my case, head geometry (I'm running TF twisted wedge heads), the slots in the rockers are not the same. The GM p/n's are at least an 1/8th inch shorter on each end of the slot. All 8 of my intake rocker slots contacted the hex on the polylocks when the valves closed. I just put the Golds back on this weekend to fix this.

When I get the film developed this week, I'll scan and post a pic of the two rockers side by side.

Now the GM p/n's are for my wife's car since her cam lift and head geometry is not critical like mine.

You don't need self aligning roller rockers if your heads haven't been drilled for guide plates or if you are using guide plates!! The only time you would need SA roller rockers is if you have the heads drilled for guide plates and decide not to use them....OR if you have a roller engine...then you should use SA roller rockers!!
