code 33 problem

Anbody have this problem before, when my car is cold it wants to hesitate and throws the 33 code, unless I keep car out of overdrive to keep rpms above 2000. If it is warmer out, above 50, it won't do this, runs good. I can't seem to find anything else wrong.

Check for vacuum leaks. Any leak in the intake that occurs after the mass air meter will set a code 33.

Its a combination of the cubes and the cam you probably have in there. There is a diagnostic part for the MAF that compares the read value to the reference table, and its having a conflict there. The 89 is better than earlier chips, so I'm a bit surprised you are having that problem. It being related to temperature is why I am guessing its the chip and not something like a relay or wiring.

Madmax, let me add a little more to my story. This engine has been in the car for 4 years, and I haven't had this problem until the end of last summer, so it seems to me to be something misadjusted, or starting to break, odd. Anything else you think I could try? Thanks

Well that sorta rules that out for the most part.
Make sure theres no bent pins at the MAF and the connector isnt worn out. And check the vacuum lines, that sometimes causes it.

I've already replaced the maf burnoff, had error last year, guess I could try the power relay. I give it a shot.
