FINALLY. an alternative to Miniram/Superram

I recently got a job at a local speed shop. Well this guy brought his 93 Turbo Mustang Coupe up there (960rwhp street car! ). He used an Edelbrock carb manifold. It was plumbed for fuel injectors, and had custom fuel rails. There was an elbow that bolted up where the carb is supposed to be. It turns out this guy is an engineer, and will do the same set up for my IROC for only $425,!! I have to buy all the parts of course. This setup utilizes a Ford TB and GM sensors. I think this should easily get my car into the low 12's on motor, finally. Man, I am stoked!!
I know this is a long shot, but does anyone here have this set-up?
BTW-I will post pics and dyno results after this is all done.
So far, with the bone stock TPI manifold I've pulled 254rwhp/347rwtq.

You are aware of the accel pro ram intake that is exactly what you are describing, except it's complete with all the stuff you need for about the same $425. A single plane intake with rails and injector bosses, etc.

Wilson manifold gets $450 to convert an intake to EFI. There are intakes by Holley and Accell that look like they would work fine for the majority of EFI builds for a lot less than that. Check out this link http://www.mrgasket.com/dfinew.htm Accell has an elbow adapter that you can use a GM throttle body. I think the Holley intake is a lot less than the Accell - it's at http://www.holley.com/HiOctn/ProdLin...901-101-1.html

Lignefelter already makes the elbow you are describing and fuel rails come with it...

I am trying to set up my FTP site with the pics of the new intake that is going on...

Weiand single plane intake, Lignefelter elbow, and 58mm throttle body

I was not aware that anyone else actually converted the carb manifolds to EFI. I'd like to see some pics when you get them up. Thanx for all the links and info!

Actually the setup im describing is totally different. If I was to use the Accel superram base, I would then have to buy the plenum and runners for an additional $700, because thats the only way to get air into the engine with that base.
That is exactly what I'm trying to avoid. The setup I described totally eliminates the need for a base/plenum/runners. It's set up just like a carb, but EFI.

The Accel Pro Ram is carb style intake plumbed for EFI and nothing like the super ram .

Intake, elbow, fuel rails, and throttle body cost right around $1000.

A lot better than what a super ram and miniram cost even without the throttle body.

You just can't beat the price....

Where do I get that adapter elbow? Anyone know the part number? I wasn't able to find it on the Accel DFI website.

TIA

I have a question. Where does the bracket for the throttle, tranny's tv cable, cruise control attach to? In your pictures i dont see any holes drilled & tapped for the factory bracket that supports these cables!

What kind of RPM's can you get out of those things? That thing looks SICK!
How much for just the base and elbow, provided I can use my stock throttle body and injectors? Even if I have to buy everything all brand new, that's an amazing price for that kind of setup!

Here's the link-^ I give up on getting the pic to show.
How come nobody uses or talks of this? I'd like to make a plenum for the top then bolt the throttle body on the front. A poor mans miniram. I have also seen this manifold in a catalogue complete with the plenum, fuel rail etc. No price was listed though. The manifold alone goes for around $240 at summit. It appears that the hole for the injectors need machined though.

OK, this is all great. But, does anyone have any cold hard dyno #'s? I've heard a lot lately about how some people are caling the Mini Ram a piece of crap. They reccomend a Carb style intake w/ a 4bbl TB and 8 injectors. A few years back I was lloking into fabricating my own elbow that resembled the Accel unit. But, I want dyno comparisons before I go pulling my car apart! Any help/info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I found the Accel manifold (part no 74139)with fuel rails for $435. It's RPM range is 2000-6500rpm. The Holley (part no 9901-101-1, pictured above) is 2000-6000rpm. I want something that goes to at least 6500rpm, so I'm definately buying the Accel piece. The only other piece I'll need the the elbow, which I've been able to find for $230.
