Woohoo!!! Slaughtered a 2000 TA M6 tonight!

It was awesome. I am still shaking! I got home from driving my fiance home and was upset because the g-tech told me I had 265 rwhp, but the day before said I had 286 rwhp. When I parked in front of my apartment, this TA just sat behind me, and we decided to go to the nearest deserted street and run them. He had a 2000 6 speed Trans Am (beautiful car, might I add). We get to the destination and only raced till like from 0 to 60-70 mph or so, but I beat him by about 4 1/2 car lengths (as told by him). I asked if he gave it his all, and he said he did! I'm sure THAT big of a difference must have been driver error (or is it that big of a difference?) But he said the only thing he didn't like was the spinning out at the beginning (which of course so did I). Well anyway, what a great way to end the evening! I thought I would share because I havent beaten many of these guys before.

Congrats, but maybe the guy forgot where second gear was... (The only possible way I could see that major of a spanking, unless you have some serious mods.)

What are your mods like?

2.73 gears. That dude had to have went from 1st to 4th. I could see if you beat his *** in the long run, but you would have to be at 450+ hp IMHO to spank him that bad off the line.

Did he lose once and then ask if ya wanted to run for pink slips?

Maybe he spun like a ***** out of the hole.

Good kill.

You guys that are doubting that he killed that T/A are reading too many magazines.

I've seen some LS1's run low 14's in the quarter, stick and auto's. Some people get factory freaks, some don't.

I've killed LS1's before, too.

You think you can keep the tries for spin on a LS1 under hard launch. They do have a hole lota power but putting it to the pavement is a different story. Just my .02. I work at Byorn dragway in IL I see LS1 run Mid 14's clear down to the low 13's stock mind you every weekend. Tire spin is a big problem for them guys. We are talking 2.2's to 2.4's 60' times.

Godd victory. It's very possible that you killed this guy. My friend has a 99 SS and we run it on the GTECH all the time. He drives fairly well, not great, but keeps spin to a minimum usually and the GTECH states 339hp for him. He has done some mods. However, he has only been able to run a best 13.60 so far, however, manages 111.1 in the 1/4. So those short races can really be a test of driving as compared to car power. Good luck and drive safe.

I think that for TPI cars with autos the best choice for gears is 3.42 or 3.45. I'm sure that 3.55s would work great too if you could find a set.

------------------
1987 Chevy Camaro IROC-Z
L98 TPI 350 (5.7L)
TH 700R-4 Transmission
Borg Warner 7.75" 9 Bolt Rear End with 2.77:1 Gears.

Current Mods: LT4 HOT Cam, Comp Cams 1.52:1 Roller Rocker Arms, Edelbrock TES 1 5/8" Headers, Catco High-Flow Catalytic Converter, Hooker 3" Aerochamber Cat-Back System, Performance Resource Chip, Accel Ignition, K&N Filters, JET TPI Air Foil, All Free Mods, Falken ZIEX Z-Rated Tires.

Best ET (w/o LT4 cam): 14.32 @ 97.7mph
(corrected for elevation)

Soon to Come: 7.625" 10 Bolt with 3.42s and Accel TPI Intake Base

i can see you beating him that bad. the ls1's are awesome and very fast but need a good launch to get a good time. if you would have ran much farther he would have caught up to ya and whooped ya. i can get my friends 2000 z-28 in the 1/8th of a mile cuz he bogs real bad when he launches. he has 2.73 gears. and my low end grunt gets me off the line fairly well. i'm in a f-body club thats mostly ls1s and lt1s and a few 3rd gens. the guys with the ls1 are running 13.3-13.5 with just a lid and exhaust. but they know how to drive. if you don't know how to drive you'll run 14's all day with an ls1

I was at SLP appreciation day awhile back at Englishtown Raceway Park. Most of the LS1 cars were running from mid 14's to mid low 13's stock. All depends on driver. Plus LS1's really come on strong about half track. I have a 96 chevy truck 350 five speed runs 14.5's and i took a guy in an LS1 formula until about 3/4 track it was awesome because i never run 1/4 mile on the street if we had been on the street he would have lost. Sticks are fun to race because even if someone has the faster car they can still lose. As long as he was behind you that is all that matters. Good Job!!

I am also in Andrews Camaro and Firebird club. The LS1's are very fast out of the box. some 01's will hit 13.2's stock
I have raced a 00 SS (before my 6 six speed and headers. and I took him by 2 cars until 70.

I raced a 99 TA with auto in my 97 runs (14.1s at 102 concistantly with a 2.6 60ft time from tire spin) and I spun out of the hole and through first and had him out till 100mph and he ran past me like I was nothing those cars for the most part don't make any speed down low (4.6 stangs are the same way) so you can beat them 1/8 mile but in a 1/4 it is a different storry if you went to 60-70 than I would say you were running 1/8th mile and he didn't stand a chance.

nice kill.
