Siamesed Base and a new cam

Ever since MADMAX decided to cut into his lower intake, I have decided to do the same thing for my all stock L98 and now I need a cam. Modifications to the car are Edlebrock Headers, Flowmaster exhaust, AFPR, port matching of the TB, Plenum, Runners, and manifold. I have narrowed the choices down to an LT4 Hot Cam or a CompCams Extreme Energy 262 or 268 but would appreciate some input on my choices.
Realizing that I still have stock heads that will get some clean up work what cam would you guys recommed?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Eric

i have an alternative

are you sure you want to change the cam? taking out the base, porting it and put it back is whole lot easier than changing the cam.

stock l98 cam is rated like int.202 ext.207. Madmax dyno sheets looked like engine is willing to pull over 5000rpm. i'd not hurry changing the cam... maybe 1.6rr will do.. and you have headers already..

if you really change the cam, pull off the heads and make some porting. nothing beats free hp i'm sorry, i didn't answer the question let us know, what ever you did, how it worked. good luck!

Pontiac, thanks for the reply. I have considered leaving the stock cam in place but since changing the cam is not going to be problem I would like to add a little more grunt to the motor. I can change it in a day, probably less as I have a couple of friends who will be helping. Thanks for the reply.

Any one else have any input on this?

i have the lt4 hot cam it revs sky high higher than the heads curreently would like it to you ultimately have to decide what you want to rev a stocker to 6600 not wise without a rev kit or go a little higher and not lose as much tourqe the tpi engine is known for i'd go eith a 112 lsa cam keep the lift moderate around 460 or so to keep the velocity high since you're gonna lose some by siameseing the base with the stock heads seriously look into the stock lt4 cam its ground on a 114 lsa same as a stock l98 and the lt4's redline is at 6300

Thanks PETE. Does anyone have any experience/input on the Extreme Energy 262 or 268 cams for this application?

one guy in here have LT1 cam from 4.3 caprice i guess. it's like 194/199 on his 305. poor him, but he's still running whole lot better ET's than before. 14's anyway. that's the area i'd like'd shoot with my l98

all the best luck in your journey. please entertain us with dyno or ET sheets after you're done. we'd surely like to know how's your ride is kicking

I have been looking at the Extreme Energy 268 pretty closely these last two days. Has anyone used this cam before? If so, what were your results with your set up?
