I owned an 86 IROC Auto four years ago. With a few mods and the engine in need of a rebuild, I managed to get it to run 15.1 in the 1/4. I never base lined it -sorry.

madmax's idea of what it should run stock sounds right to me.

15.29@89.1 with a few mods and the 2.77 Borg rear end on plain old Gatorbacks. I never checked it before the mods, but it's still using the "LA" cam.

Ported plenum and matched runners/base, Wells MAF, 1.6:1 Crane roller tips, AFPR @ 40 PSIG, 180°F stat and fan swithc, K&N filter (no better than a clean stock filter), on all synthetic fluids, through a full stock exhaust system, with 3/4 tank of fuel, spare, jack, all the weight left in (in street trim).

As soon as it gets to the 50,000 mile mark I'm thinking seriously about some significant head/cam flow improvements. That should be in about another two years....

Wow.
My car must be gimped all to hell then.
Back when I first got it (when i dont think it was running /quite/ up to par)
I only managed to turn like a 16.1 @ 83.
Granted it was first time at the track and all, but thats kinda sad, IMO.
It's an 86 Trans Am, TPI 305, Im told theres 3.23s or 3.27s in the back...(somethin like that)..posi too.
Hmph.

Before I tore my Edelbrock carb and intake of my LG4 car, I was running 14.94@91.67mph.
I hope the TPI will at least equal that.
Well, see in a month or two when I get the car done and down to the track.

TorchTA, Likely you have 2.77 gears.
What is your MPH in OD at 2000 rpm?????
about 77-79?
Then 2.77's

86 T/A 5.0 A4 & 2.77 gear
15.62 @ 86 mph
93 Civic 1.6L
13.5 @ 100 mph

My 85 t/a with the LB9 (305tpi) ran a 15.02 @ 91.5 last year. the only mods i have done are cat back exhaust and K&N. i cant wait to get out this year because i have a freshly rebuilt trans, and i think i may be able to pull high 14's (last time at track wouldnt shift into third @ full throttle).
They arent bad cars if you dont mind getting smoked by everyone with a 350.
hope that helps

85, yours is an 85 (lol, which has the l69 / hotter cam, which is why you run so much better than a stock 86 would.
My basically stock 92 LB9 in a 2.73 geared heavy *** convertible was neck and neck w/ a fully port matched SLP runner'd 87 LB9 w/ headers and 3.73s. over the weekend. Peanut cams should be one of the first things to go if you intend on doing any mods to a car w/ one.

- Definitely prototypes, high powered mutants of some kind. Too weird to live, too cool to die

F&&K a peanut cam! But before I go through a cam swap, I'll just drop in a 350 or 383.

3.73s on a long runnered LB9 is IMO, dumb. maybe its ok for street racing (ie, rolling starts) but its NOT optimal for 1/4 mile at all.
