Fouled plug on #6 cylinder... Need some suggestions

Guys, That car in the signature has been fouling the number 6 plug ever since i can remember. Last week i put a new cap and rotor and plug/wires. It seemed to run ok afterwards, today i wanted to change all of the plugs again to see if that fixed the problem. It didn't, the 6th plug is VERY wet and the other plugs look "ok". I did a leakdown test on the 6th cylinder, it checked out GREAT, no valve leakage anywhere.. Compression is good. The only thing i can think of is a dirty/bad injector?

Am I off base to think this? My only concern is, I HATE pulling the superram off if its not necassary.

Thanks guys,

Brendan

Leirch,

Try a fuel pressure leakdown test to evaluate the injectors.

Brendan, I think you have covered your bases (new ignition parts and good compression)...means it can only be fuel related. I think your suspicion is probably correct and possibly the injector is not closing properly.

The worst thing, is that #6 is not on the same side of the engine as the O2 sensor; so you can't even use that as some sort of a check. I sometimes wish these cars had O2 sensors on BOTH sides.

Glenn,Vadar, anybody else reading,
I did another compression test and got numbers from 100-120 from all 8. If that is not causing the problems, the injectors must be doing it. I'm going to do the leakdown on the injectors, the ONLY problem is... I can only get to 4 of the injectors due to the superam covering the other 4.
I also noticed that only two of the brand new plugs had a biege spot on them, one was completely fouled or wet(number 6), all of the others were completely white still, this is after running new plugs for a week or so.

You might want to check your plug wires, if you haven't already. If the wire is bad, or is resting against a manifold and is shorting out, the plug is going to get VERY wet since it won't fire. Just my $0.02.

Brendan, why not swap the injector from #6 with another cylinder and see if the problem remains or migrates to the swapped cylinder?

Glenn,
Your idea has come up and was suggested by many.. Only problem is that the superram takes about an entire day/weekend to get off and back on. IF I have to pull it off(either way it sounds like I need to), I really don't want to put it back together and have that not fix the problem. If I had a miniram that would be a different story.
I think I'm going to pick up a new set of 24lb SVO injectors for 200bucks and then go from there. But I still need to do some more tests.

You could try running a hotter plug if you just want to get by for a while

Don't discount a valve stem seal...won't show up under a leakdown test.
