Where can I find an EGR blockoff plate?

Where might a find an EGR block off plate for a TPI intake?
Can't seem to find them anywhere.
Thanks

How bout making one? Just cut some plate to the right shape, mark and drill holes, and intall with some generic general purpose gasket type stuff (RTV maybe?). Does blocking off the EGR on a TPI car cause the computer to freak out?

Shouldn't, cause the ECOM to freak, it might throw a code, but I think you can program the PROM to ignore the code easily. This might be a question for the DYI-PROM guys. If you ask, make sure you ask it correctly, something like. "What should I do when I block off my EGR, programming wise?" Grumpy will surely reply with a "look it up in the Archives."

Well, by the time a track down something to make the plate out of, cut, smooth the edges and drill the holes, I could have bought one for less than $10 and saved me a lot of time, I just can't seem to find them anywhere. There was one originally on there, but someone else added the EGR to try to solve a detonation problem but it didn't.
EGR can be shut off in the PROM, all it does is pulse the solenoid on how much to open the EGR valve, there is no feedback from it so no codes will throw if disconnected and wired properly.

There is a temp sensor on the side of the EGR valve that the computer looks at to determine if the valve is working properly. Its the little thing on the drivers side of the EGR valve that looks like an O2 sensor with one wire comming from it. If you remove the EGR valve without bypassing it in the PROM you will set a code and get a nice bright SES light!!!

Yeah, I see the point in trying to get one already made. Is it different than a carb'd one? They are pretty easy to get for carb'd cars I think. Seems like most parts stores have them in their "performance" section.

Ok, let me see, if the EGR is blocked off, a code is set? Does the ECM adjust for this and go into a "limp home" mode or anything? or is it just a matter of the SES light coming on and nothing more?

I'm almost certain there is no temp sensor on mine, the only sensor/solenoid for the EGR in fact has the vacuum line from the bottom of the TB going to the solenoid, then the vacuum line goes from the solenoid to the EGR valve. The solenoid is pulsed by the EPROM to control a valve in it to allow the vacuum thru it to open and close the EGR valve with no feedback to the EPROM.
This is a '92 TPI setup I have and it originally did not have the EGR when I initially installed it. After fruitless hours of trying to track down a detonation problem I took it to a guy to have the EGR and VSS sensor wired in to the EPROM to be able to program it better, these were not used initially in my setup. This may be why I don't have it, not sure....

I have the temp sensor and it is an 1989 Iroc L98 MAF. Maybe the speed density in 1990-1992 cars used the MAP sensor to confirm EGR function. When the EGR valve opens there is a change in vacuum which the MAP can detect. The boys on the PROM board will probably know more about this.......

The timing to use is determined partially by the MAP reading, temp, rpm, load, etc...so that would possibly change the timing some, but setting a code based on it seems unlikely.
Really a mute point because I will get a new EPROM when the motor rebuild is complete anyway, I'll have the EGR turned off then.

Oh, and I found an EGR block off plate at TPIS for $9.
Thanks all

yeah, my car doesn't have the temp sensor, and mine's MAP. My friends with 86 TAs have been wondering how that works for awhile
