it would be a Auto Scan X-Ray.You can get it out of Summit for $175+ shipping p/n (AXY-10110).Its a Gm only scan. It's not to bad for the money.

well it depends on what your computer is and such...if it's stock or modifed..what kinda prom you run...etc.

i own an 87 T/A stock system.
for it, i read the spec. and from what i find,
on a cold start the car should idle at 1500rpms, it would then drop as the car warms up...
when the car is fully warmed and your at idle it should run around 500rpms..in drive.
in park it should run around 800rpms and if the car is in neutral it should run 800rpms as well.
that's of couse if the car is auto like mine is....
if the car is in neutral it should be around 800rpms..
these are specs. for an 87, stock 305 TPI, auto. T/A.

Hey, Chief,

You realize that the only way to properly change the target idle is to reprogram the PROM, right? Adjusting the throttle stop screw will only ruin the minimum air position setting and confuse the ECM to the point that the IAC can no longer correctly control the idle.

400 in drive, barley idles but hasn't stalled yet and sounds cool, about 550 in park, but who says stock TACH is accurate.

I take it your referring to to the tareget idle vs coolant temp right.

about the stock tach being accurate, mine is 400 rpms off(BEHIND)More at times.that is according to my scan tool anyway.my tach says I'm idling around 1100 but it's at 730 or so.
