Question for those with Custom Computer Chips

On my 87 Trans Am I'm looking into getting a custom chip for it from Ed Wright, Right now I'm running a 305 TPI Hypertech chip with the mod's listed below. I don't want to spend $400.00 on it and not notice a difference in the way it runs. How did yall's run after the chip? Any problems? My G-tech has 0-60 in 6.0-6.2 seconds I was hoping for 5.5 and under with what I got. Would the chip make that much of a difference in getting me where I want to be? Thanks, Jason

Yes the chip will make a big difference on your car. I was running a performance resource 305 tpi chip on my current setup.
I just got my ed wright chip in the other day an let me tell you, man you can really tell an instant difference! The car idled, started, and ran much better. It also pulled quite a bit harder throughout the rpms.
I don't have track times yet, this is with the 'ol but-dyno.

I've heard of people using Ed Wright's chips before. How much do they run and what does he change vs. the stock chip? I'm also interested in buying one of his chips.

No less than 350. I'm looking into having one burnt. with the upcoming head swap, 442 lift cam, and the addition of headers, my computer's gonna go retarded.
i'd also like to burn my own but realize it'll be more trouble. what if I ruined my old prom. I wonder if i can save the stock codes.

I thought the Ed Wright PROMs had some sort of satisfaction warranty, and they would reburn for free once or twice. I don't know this for a fact, but seem to recall it from something I read.

Yes? No? Wassup?

I have a ed wright chip in my 88 and it was a improvement over the hypertech (which barely ran) but I am stil disappointed, by about 1 sec. I've been looking at intakes and carbs but first I'm going to call them to see about another chip. I get mixed emotions from people who think my set-up is to wild for a tpi.

you should just burn your own chip. The people at the diy prom board are very helpful. I had an Ed Wright chip and did not like it. When I looked at the chip he had the total timing set to high (like 36) and had the injector constant set at 24.5. The problem with svo injectors ate they are rated differently than GM. A 24 lb svo = 26 lb GM spec. If you dont feel that you have the ability make sure you have a custom one done by someone who has a good reputation.

355 10:1 , AFR 190 heads, LT4 HOT cam w/ 1.6 roller rockers, complete Superram intake, 58mm BBK TB, 24# svo injectors, screens out of MAF, MAT relocated, March underdrive pulleys, Streetdampner, Crane HI-6 ignition, 160 thermostat, K&Ns, TES headers(Jet hot coated), Mufflex 4' cat back, B&M shift Kit, 2500 converter, and 3.27s. Chip is custom(doing it myself). 2 1/2 Harwood and just painted.
