4bbl to TPI distributer

I am changing the carb system on my 86 IROC 350 to a stock 88 TPI system

the distributer on it now is a HEI with the vaccum pot the new dist has the external coil (which I dont want)

is there a kit to convert the old dist to the computer controlled advance and what ever else needs to be changed?

No kit to convert. Sorry.

I would just look for a factory replacement, the original would be compatable with TPI but since you said it's a vaccumm advance style, it's been changed.

You can get the distributor from an 85 or 86 TPI car, those years had the coil in cap style distr.
Just use your old dist as a core to get the new one cheaper.
Autozone has them for $120, $80 if you bring in your old dist.
Just get a new cap, and rotor, new ones don't have those.

Note: normally they only do cores on the same item, so they might not take you Vaccum dist as a core, but you can always try.

Easiest long term plan is getting a distributor out of a 87-92 ish 350 Pick up. Uses a small cap, so getting a good external coil is an easy thing to do.

Different connector for harness, but overall easier to work on.

I already have a dist out of an 88 I do not want an external coil
I want to convert my vacume dist to an electronic if i can but i think i will just look for a 86 TPI one

does any onw know if the connectors will work with the 88 harness?

The 86 and 88 connectors are different, so you will have to do a little rewiring.
