stock baseplate

I was owndering can it be ported to flow good enough numbers for a powerful 350? As good as a superram base? I heard that the stock could actually be ported more than the superram. Is this true?

header to tailpipe replacement and a cold air intake. Then I am just going to leave it alone

IS porting easy to do? I have never done it before.

Don't waste your time with the stock manifold. Even a fully ported stock one still isn't as good as an out-of-the-box Edelbrock or Accel.

I agree with Formul8. Its not worth your time. I would just buy the cheapest aftermarket base you can find, and if you don't think it flows enough, then you can always port that one out!

The price range is all the same, about 400 bucks. As for which one, pick one it really doesnt matter much.

The stock base can be ported to flow more than an unported aftermarket base... now if you were to port the aftermarket base then it would flow more than any stock manifold could if you just open up the ports.

The basic design of the air passages make the stock piece terrible, ported or not.

The aftermarkets I have seen arent much better except one, and its no longer made.
Nobody wants to address the 2 largest problems, the low port floor and the lack of a runner-base transition.

Well, I recommend sticking to a fully ported base for a mild 350 or a hot 305, with like 'vette heads or something like that. If you plan on anything over 320HP on a 350, get an aftermarket base, and then you have a good flowing base you can take even more out of if necessary.
