The best LTR Camshaft?
Accel Base Manifold, AS&M Runners, Ported plenum, pocket ported Dart 180 heads on a 350. If anyone has a similar set-up, and you have track times (trap speeds), what's the best cam (hydraulic roller retrofit)for the application? The cams I am considering are listed below:
zz-9:
212 226
.483 .520
Lingenfelter:
74211

Not one Response? Nobody has Any of the above camshafts? It's gonna cosy about $1000 bucks to retro-fit a cam, and I don't want to walk into it blind, so if you have one of these cams, please reply with a list of mods and 1/4 mile times.

I would post some times but I haven't finished putting mine together yet. I'm using the LT4 Hot Cam. I hope it works well.

I have a Comp roller that is nearly identical to the SLP cam you listed.
in: 218/495
ex: 224/503
It was a retrofit cam and I believe it was about $50 cheaper than the SLP.
Anyway, just got the car running after rebuild so I dont have any times yet.

Ok, I have a 89n IROC 350 with the ZZ9 cam with 6085 Edelbrock heads, TES headers, 1.5 RR, 2000 stall convertor,MSD 6AL, ported plenum, underdrive pullies, TPIS level V chip and a custom dual exhaust. I have a stock UNPORTED intake manifold, stock runners and a stock suspension with 2.77 gears.
The stall convertor is too low it should be at least a 2500 more like 2800. I say this cause the cam turns on at around 2800 - 3000 rpms definately can fell it!
I've had vacuum problems and been fixing them since the cam install. With these vacuum problems I ran a 14.12 @ 96.99.
I fixed the vacuum problems but didn't reset the idle to 750 rpms (don't ask) and ran it 2 times at the track.
First run was a 13.94 @ 98.5 (I think on the mph).
Second run was a 13.87 @ 98.99 (same as in sig).
I think I can get it down to a low 13.7X or even a 13.69 but I'm not going to the track till next year. Now on these runs all I did was get to the line and let it idle and hit the gas, no stalling it to a certain rpm. Also on the first run I let the auto do all the shifting but on the second run I left it in 2nd and let it shift from 1st to 2nd and I shifted to 3rd at 5400rpms. And yes it still pulls at 5400rpms.
I think the the tranny shifts at 5100rpms and going aliitle high helped but I got to go back and see and it isn't happening this year.
I drive it daily unfortnately but we do what we can. I have no problems on emissions.
Did this help you? I hope.
Good Luck.

I don't have any of those cams, but I'm using the ZZ4 cam(similar to the ZZ9 with less duration). With the mods in my sig and the stock chip, I've ran a best of 13.2@105.5 on street tires with a 2.02 60'. My car needs a bigger cam and a custom chip(I've just started burning my own).

I used to run the LPE 74211 with my 350 motor. With dart heads, Accel large runners, Accel base, 52 mm tb, ported plenum, headers and a 2500 rpm converter at a raceweight of 3500 lbs, I ran 1.70 60 ft, 12.42 @ 109 mph. With a lightweight friend driving it hit 110 mph. (3400 lb raceweight)... I don't think a 350 Long runnered motor has much more than that in it.
good luck
