Need help on what kind of cam
Need help on what kind of cam
I am lookin to buy a 350 shortblock...probably the L31

My question is what kind of cam do I use, the hydraulic roller or the flat tappet. Does it depend on the heads I buy? I need help in buildin my engine.. I plan to keep the TPI if it helps at all.

Depends on the year of the block first off, so you know if you're going flat tappet or roller, if its a flat tappet block you can buy after market roller lifters at about $350 a set.
If its a 350 the general rule is to stay under .220 duration @.05, as much lift as your valve train can last (not over .470 stock) and your lsa from 112-114 for tpi, on carb you can go under 112 but that will be fairly radical.
