TPI Power and Injector guesses
First time in a while that I could afford new things, so I got some goodies for the camaro. How Does this combo look to you guys? Anyone with power guesses.
358--350+.040
Total seal piston rings on flat top pistons with 4 valve reliefs about 9 to 1 ratio with heads.
Comp Cams xe282HR with 1.6 Full Roller Rockers w/appropriate springs
Edelbrock Performer RPM angle plug 70cc heads
Siamese and polished TPI base, ported upper, stock TB, Stock Runners.
Shorty headers of course with ypipe and Flowmasters
Need to get some new injectors.
also any guesses to the power I might cut or times in the 1/8th and 1/4.

Re: TPI Power and Injector guesses
Just shy of 300 at the rear wheels would be my guess. Mid 8s in the 1/8, Low 14s in the 1/4?

Re: TPI Power and Injector guesses
guessin u should be at 280-300 at the motor. not sure wat ur heads are 70cc doesnt mean much. ur comp is low and ur cam has a good bit of duration which is not the TPI's cup of tea not to mention ur heads either. the cams alil too big i think for polished and siamesed base TPI. the runners are a big restriciton as well as the plenum when the runners have been opened up.
heads and TPI are killin ur HP.
guess is max 300hp at the crank. good tq, prob mid to high 13's in the 1/4
u'll want to run 24lb injectors unless u think ur gona be making over 450hp. then 30lb.
the stock 350TPI cars were capable of low 14s stock. just add a cold and and exhaust and your usually knockin on high 13s.

Yes, why those heads? I think that you could do better; and go with 64cc chambers. Also, I would buy large tube runners since you are staying with the TPI theme. Or better yet, how about the HSR for an intake? (I like spending other peoples money) But actually the HSR in a good choice because the HSR replaces the intake porting, the plenum porting and the long too small runners.

Re: TPI Power and Injector guesses
idk... stock 350tpis used 21lb injectors and u could bump the pressure to about 50psi to get it to act like a 22/24lb injector. i think he would be fine wit stock 350tpi injectors. they should be good for 300-350hp if u bump the pressure up. i just ssaid 24lb bc hell prob end up gettin better heads cuz they suck, and upgrading the tpi since hes waisting his money by not doin so. yes the 24lb injectors would benefit from a tune but ive seen sum that run wit the stock chip just fine.
u could upgrade the TPI or do as doc said and get the HSR... if u wanna get alil crazy u could get the HSR and port the base and port the runners to felpro 1206's like me
siamesing the base will just create turbulance and hurt ur flow #'s. since the runners wont be siamesed either. you want smooth transitions think about water running through the engine a random space behind the bottom of the runners will creat turbulance. u can port the base, better yet extrude hone the stock base, upgrade ur runners and port the plenum and u'll be good and get better heads. stock compression is 9.3:1 i would at least do that maybe even 9.8

Re: TPI Power and Injector guesses
I Bought these heads for 800 ready to go brand new. Pretty much the main reason. The plenum is ported heavily so it wont be much of a restriction if at all.
The runners are definetly going to be replaced with something siamesed to match the intake someday (possibly something custom from my garage). The Throttle body will need to be replaced soon as well (52mm?).
The Base definetly is not a random void after the runners it is very well shaped and very sharp looking I think. Not worried about 2000RPM torque more interested in 6000RPM+ Horsepower
The heads arent all that bad considering the stock l98's that came off of it.
And... since I know it is coming.... They are also not a set of $1485 AFR's, That were out of my range and patience to wait another 3 months to save for. I do have budget for those wondering.
I like the tuned port look and im trying to make a stock looking intake scare the LT1 guys and hopefully at least a couple LS1 little boys driving daddy's money. I know the grown men with LS1, cam and exhaust are out of reach. Im not delusional
Not real sure on the compression ratio for you guys, it has flat top forged pistons with 4 valve reliefs that sit .040 in the hole. Im trying to err on the low side with 9:1
My thinking with the tuned port is to open it up as far as possible making for a single plane intake style flow. but looking like the RPM killing TPI From the outside for all the neysayers hating TPI's. I want to shift at 6500 maybe 7000 and I think this cam will do it. I was actually thinking about Going as far as opening up the wall between the front 4 and rear 4 runners but it looked kinda difficult but possible with the welding already on top of the base to make it stronger for what I have already ported out.
---Different Subject---Anybody on here use the mrgasket Guess-a-dyno? sure it is innaccurate because of the missing information. But they would not sell a single copy, if it wasnt even within 100 horsepower of any actual numbers. 325+HP at 6000 through a stock TPI with 650CFM TB, and Stock Manifolds with Mufflers. (I'm running Shorty's w/Mufflers, as well as a far from stock TPI) about 400HP with Just the headers is its guesstimate. Still using the TPI as the manifold.---Back to Subject---
This is gearing up to be a tremendous let down from edelbrock if This wont even make 300HP at the motor. I guess if it only runs 14's "I will burn this mother down" with enough nitrous to run 10's. If this wont go 13's than a LS1 is difinetely the only way to go.
Going to do a TPIchips.com chip until I can get to a dyno, maybe in the fall.
Thanks Guys
