Re: check this out....do you think it will work?

It could well be out of a 84....Who says the engine wasn't swapped in by a previous owner?

But yes...Any early F-body MAF will work. Obviously, you'll need a TPI ECM & a lot of rewiring to switch to TPI, but it's just a matter of work.

yes, the year isnt important right now, its a MAF sensor for the TPI. like i stated before, i have EVERYTHING for this swap but when he gave me the intake, it was just the intake hose and no MAF/SPEED DEN for it, so that all i need. if you say it will work then ill just buy it off of him instead of paying the 200 off tpiparts.net

thanks guys

Just remember...if you put a MAF system on a '91 in Ca. the only way to get it smogged will to pay someone under the table.

Re: check this out....do you think it will work?

there are only 2 different MAF's for these cars . 1 is for the v6 (MPFI)cars and 1 is for the v8 (TPI) , the year does not matter . the one in the pic is for a v8 (TPI) and looks like 1 of the screens are removed .

for $50 you would be better off getting 1 from a member on here that can verify it is good because these are known to go bad and there is no way to test them other than on a good running motor .

cool, that pretty much sums up my question of "will this work on my 350, since his is a 305"

so any V8 maf sensor works good? ill ask him what condition its in, i dunno i havent came across anyone here thats selling a MAF sensor.

he said he's getting rid of it because hes switching to MAP...whatever that is. speed density??

Old Mafs read lower than new ones at the same air flow, so will run leaner.

These guys will test and return, $70 to repair.

why do not you convert your tbi harness to SD?

im done with the TBI, im swapping to 350 TPI the whole engine, the whole induction set up, and just needed info and what not on the MAF. thanks for the info guys and i really appreciate it about the rebuild address...

i talked to the guy, he said he swapped the motors a long time ago and this MAF sensor has been sitting around for almost 10 years

not being used. hes cool, and wants to make sure it will work and what not, he said even if it didnt he's consider exchanging it back with me. but im sure ill be pleased.

thanks again guys

Re: check this out....do you think it will work?

alright! so i picked it up yesterday and its all good. everything seems fine (i know you cant go off of looks for a MAF sensor) but hey, ill give it a shot. from the numbers that were provided it came off an 86/87 so thats cool.

the guy said its been sitting around for the last 10 years in is garage which could be good, that most likely means it has low miles of usage. i saw the 350 TPI that he as now inside a 55 ford. pretty sweet! he converted it to speed den so he didnt need it anymore, which was a long *** time ago but its cool. probably the best 40 bucks ive spent.

Re: check this out....do you think it will work?

Depending on the mods to the motor and the screen removed you might have to reprogram the eprom. The more changes, the more likely the tune will be off.

Thanks for the fix, but I already have a "Blonde DD".

hmm i dint think that the screen will make a difference at all. all that matters in a MAF sensor are those wires runnin across and theyre all intact. but thanks for the heads up
