How many have gone back and re-installed your EGR equipment?
How many have gone back and re-installed your EGR equipment?
I've been getting excessive exhaust fumes around and inside my car and I've been thinking of adding back my smog equipment. How many of you have done it and have you noticed a difference?

I believe the EGR does more good than harm, but it's probably not your problem (it's inactive at idle for one thing). I suspect you have a mixture issue.

You could have an exhaust leak somewhere towards the front of the car.

Re: How many have gone back and re-installed your EGR equipment?
im putting my 91 trans am back together(bought as basket case lol)
im installing
--egr parts
--air pump/lines(this maybe a tad hard)
--SINGLE 3" cat(dual cat setup is stupid expensive)
so im going the opposite way of a lot of 3rd gen owners

atleast my car will be legal and smell good

I also thought it was a fuel mixture problem but I have my f/p set at 48 psi. and every time I check my plugs they are a light reddish which is considered normal right? You'd think if I was running rich the plugs would be black. Maybe my chip is running too rich at idle?

Probably too old. The last time I replaced it was back in '02 and the car has sat in my garage since then and hasn't racked up more than a couple thousand miles. I take it out for a spin maybe once or twice a month.

I know when I installed my hedmans the first time around, even though it cleared the A/C heater box, it used to heat it up something aweful. The smell persisted until I removed the box. Something about that fiberglass getting all hot, it stunk. Just a thought
