Mini Ram and emissions?
What if I knew a guy that knew a guy who's mother in law's sister's aunts cousin's best freind's uncle three times removed owned a smog shop and as long as the car passed the sniffer, he'd pass it. If that were the case, and someone put a Mini Ram on their TPI based motor, and installed the add-on EGR kit, would it pass the sniffer? Then would it be worth spending the grand on the setup to run fast?

Sure, you could possibly pass the sniff test without the EGR, but you'd need it to pass the visual. Spending the $1000 price tag is up to you.

So are you saying that the Mini Ram with the EGR kit would be a smog legal (CA too) part. Does it have an EO#? I didn't see one.

Re: Mini Ram and emissions?
I think a lot of the question has to do with what ELSE you're going to do to the motor. THEN.....when all is said and done....."will it pass?"
*EDIT* Just saw your sig. 383. Heck, sure....yank off the TPI and go for it. I imagine they'd pass you, regardless of OE, assuming you added the EGR. ...but then you ARE in Cali. I know here in NC, which is MUCH more laidback, you'd have no trouble.

Re: Mini Ram and emissions?
No, putting an EGR setup on a MiniRam does not give it an EO#. Those come from the state after submitting the product thru a series of tests. Last I heard those tests cost about $35,000.
Re: Mini Ram and emissions?
Wasn't there a guy on this board who tried to run a mini-ram on a 1970-72 Camaro, and finally gave up because he couldn't get it to ballance the airflow between the front and rear cylinders?

Re: Mini Ram and emissions?
could try to pass it off as a LT1 and maybe they wont know? Either way, the EGR kit may pass with flying colors but still dont have a EO number
