Need help with TPI cold air intakes!!!
I have a 87 IROC Z TPI. Can you use a Cold Air intake on a TPI? Please respond back. Also, what is the best way to install a Cold Air intake on a TPI? Thank you

i bought a $250 slp cold air kit. but i have an 86 and i had to relocate my battery to my driver side, and thats where the charcoal canister was, so i tossed it. (i already had the air pump removed and all other emission bs)

Or you could do what I did, take down measurements from your TB to the air filter and make your own CIA...
I made mine for around 20$ in the lowe's plumbing section..

In a Camaro, doing the usual mods to the stock airboxes and installing K&N filters seems to get you about everything that's reasonably getable (and the setup is already "cold air"). Firebirds have a more difficult time since they don't have the hood clearance for the intake plumbing to go over top of the radiator- they have to go to the side and have less direct access to "cold air".

As stated, the TPI in a Camaro already is a "CAI" since it's not breathing in hot engine bay air. If you remove the air filters, you can see some baffles below where the filters were. You can cut these out with a dremel or cut off wheel.
This is enough for most of the TPI Camaro's out there. Unless you have a highly modified engine, there's not much more you need to do.
Pontiacs have a MUCH more restrictive intake from the factory, due to the lower hood line, and can really take advantage of a custom or aftermarket cold air set up.
