need help any positive info appreciated

okay heres the problem sometimes when i drive the car it will run great for 30 mins then other times when i push the gas past 1500 rpms it doesnt really want to accelerate it accels very slow. if i push it to the floor the rpm's wont get above 2000 but it still accelerates very slow i think i saw a turtle pass me when i tried to accel. Let me know what you think might be causeing this.

I am also getting code 33 but i dont need the trouble code proceedure as i have the factory service manual for my car. i have followed the wires under the hood and havent found any bad wires yet i pulled out the back seat and followed the wires to the fuel pump and they seem fine.

Now for what i have done i replaced the alt cause it wasnt charging, replaced 2 out of three relays but when i change the maf power i get a different code and it wont run but maybe for a min if that. replaced the fuel filter, and bought a used maf air flow sensor and put that in. im going to replace the ends to the grounds on the back of the head in the morning and the plugs and wires.

i think its a 305 but i do know its tpi trans am

Changed the spark plugs and wires, checked the grounds on the back of the motor and they were fine, i also noticed the starter wires were loose so i tighted the nut. i am still having the same problem any ideas of what else i should check..... Could the trans be causing this problem. Oh and im still getting code 33 too but on monday im going to take the dash out and see if there are any bad wires in there.

Still have a catalytic converter in there? Might be plugged. (and would give odd MAF readings as well)

Disconnect the cat from the downpipe, and take the car for a test drive. (yes, it will be a bit on the loud side, but, I have to say, it sounds REALLY good like that.......) Be sure and secure the exhaust pipe so it wont hit the ground, and drag..... that could be very bad.

Other alternative would be to drill a small hole in the exhaust BEFORE the cat, and watch the pressure. Normally, at idle, it should be less than 2PSI.

You can also rap on the cat with a hammer, and if you hear it rattling, time for a new one. (don't hit it too hard....... you aren't trying to drive nails here.)

Nah bro. My camaro just wouldnt rev. up during park or in drive. Sounds like your MAF Sensor is going bad. To test the MAF Sensor, follow link https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/tpi/...uble-code.html

Re: need help any positive info appreciated

check your tps, also what year is the car?

While the motor is idleing lightly tap on the mas with a screwdriver if the motor stumbles then the problem is somewhere in the mas circuit

MPFI but it's a TPI. dirtyd6669, Your setup is a TPI (Tuned Port Injection) right? MPFI means "Multi-Port Fuel Injection". In other words, the fuel is injected into its very own individual port. If you compare a Throttlebody Injection unit that are found in the Camaro RS's, you'll see that there are 2 injectors that spray fuel into the intake which divides the air fuel mixture into the "Spider intake" much like the carburated unit intake. Now if you look at the setup on your "TPI" you'll notice that each intake runner goes down and crosses over into the opposite side of the block. Now before the air dumps into the intake valve/port, there is a fuel injector that is specifically for that individual port. Now thats why it is called "Multi-Port Fuel Injected." Eight individual intake ports with 8 individual fuel injectors, hench "MPFI." So next time some asks what kind of setup you got, you should say "87 trans am with a TPI setup, Multi Port Fuel Injection V8 350 OR 305 engine."
