305 TBI to 350 TPI

I have a 91 firebird base model it has a 305 TBI and recently accuired a l98 from a 92 z28 and am looking to do the swap...in short its going to be a mainly stock swap with headers. I might how ever do a mild cam, one the stock valve train could handel. basicly im looking to make the swap as "simpel" as posibel. so i have a few questions.(please refrain from references to building up the stock rear or stock tranny these are issues im aware of and will take up later)

1.) First off will i need a new fuel pump? How about fuel lines?
2.) Would I be abel to pull the ECU from the car along with the engine harnes and put a ECU from 90-92 350?(I would do this to make re wiring the new 350 easyer)

Thank you guys for your time...im not decided on what im going to do yet im still playing with ideas like going carb or a holley TBI if i can find one for cheap.im looking to find a happy medium between cost and power

2. yes, if you whant the TPI

Re: 305 TBI to 350 TPI

I would say for 99.9% of us its a must if switching to TPI. The dual fan could be cool to since its already set up in the 92 TPI harness and ECM.

If you slap the TBI on the L98 longblock, keep the TBI harness. EBL will make the tuning easy and efficient.

Re: 305 TBI to 350 TPI

TCC and VSS for sure, but is it part of the engine harness? I know there is a tgo thech article covering TBI to TPI swap.
If you are too lazy to look at your car, engines, harnesses, ECM's, find a service manual or search tgo's write up, maybe you should just leave it.

Personally I would not consider adapting the TBI harness for TPI, as long as the TPI harnes can be found or purchased.

Re: 305 TBI to 350 TPI

ok so for all that are confused like i have been through most of this if you go to an auto dismantler and buy a 350 tbi engine which is drop in and plug up and use with the 350 tbi on it all you need is the ecm (or ecu what ever you prefer to call it) to a 350. im going to get pricing on all of this today the dismantler has a 92 z-28 with ecu and 350 to pull and put in mine. please correct me if im wrong but im sure this would work essentially id be making my car into a 92 tbi z28
