Throtle Body By Pass For TPI?

Hey Everyone,

Has anyone done this on a TPI? I seen the article here on the board but I believe thats for a LT1 throtle body.

If so could you post some pics for us.

Thanks. Tony.

Yeah I seen it before but it looks like that throttle body is off the LT1's.

Makes no difference. There are two coolant lines going to the TB ; disconnect them and join hoses together .
Finished , done
If you want to make it look pretty you can cut the redundant spigots off the IAC housing as shown it pic above

Re: Throtle Body By Pass For TPI?

I took off my hose. As for the nozzle that sticks out of the intake, if it's took hard to unscrew, then get a threader or tap and die ( not sure what it's called) and thread the inside of the nozzle., Then get a plumbing screw or bolt and srew it in to prevent the coolant from leaking out the intake manifold. Make sure to use that liquid teflon stuff to make a good seal. Confused? I can provide a picture tommorrow.

Re: Throtle Body By Pass For TPI?

It may seem difficult to see the plug but you'll get the general idea. The circled plug is where the coolant leaves the intake manifold, then enters the bottom of the throttlebody, then leaves the throttlebody and goes into the heatercore. Let me know if you need more help.

Too much work, just get a 5/8" rubber heater hose cap from NAPA and use a hose clamp to seal

Most people would reuse the nipple on the intake to hook their heater hose back up to

Look underneath your TB , there is a alum casting with the IAC valve on left and two water hoses.Compare that with the pic above
After you have done the bypass you can cut the water outlets off as nothing is going through them any more

It is more work, but I had it done when I had the engine out (during rebuild stage). The plug can ealily be taken out. All I need is the proper Allen Wrench and Im good to go. I chose this method because I wasnt sure how long I was going to go without a heatercore. So I chose the plug over the heater hose, stud and clamp. But vetteoz is right. Either way, its under the throttlebody and barely even visible.
