Re: help identifying possible setup problem

The smog pump probably packed up so the A.I.R. system was removed and the diverter valve has been left hanging.

No, A.I.R. is an emissions system, nothing to do with air conditioning.

Re: help identifying possible setup problem

Ohhh I see well I'm in florida so emisions isn't a problem for me here. Could that being disconected hurt the performance of the car? Or is it fine being left as it is.

Performance-wise, you'd never know the difference if it was working or not.

That's the A.I.R. pump that somebody's disconnected. I bet you'll find that the pulley doesn't even turn.

Re: help identifying possible setup problem

With the current setup, if you ever turned the heater on, coolant would vomit all over your valve cover. Its open port needs to be reconnected to the hose in place of the bleeder valve which for some wierd reason is connected to the A.I.R. diverter valve

Actually, how the A.I.R. valve isnt swimming in coolant right now is beyond me since its directly connected to the TB coolant passage

Re: help identifying possible setup problem

Do you have a diagram on how all this should be connected to prevent that? Or could you give me a quick right up? I'm doing a trade off with a shop out here to do a commercial for them to get my fuel pump changed so I want to get thiis fixed before its towed to the shop.

Re: help identifying possible setup problem

Ok. I removed what you diagramed and put the disconnected piece back where it belongs. Now I'm left with these 2 ipen tubes. The one to the left has coolent in it.

The hose on the right should be coming from the rear of that rusted up air pump. Removing the air pump will get rid of that one. The other hose on the left should be the return line from the heater to oil cooler, that hose that's next to it should be currently connected to the radiator.

Re: help identifying possible setup problem

Both of those open tubes were connected to the part that had to do with air. The open tube to the left doesn't have anything to connect to to bring it to the radiator

The thick tube that runs under the open one to the left goes to the radiator but how do I reconnect the open one for the oil cooler

Re: help identifying possible setup problem

Can someone point out where that left tube is supposed to connect to the radiator? I completely removed the smog pump. I have the tube with the 2 caps that say antifreeze coolant keep tight and can't figure out where to hook it up there's no loose tubing besides the one to the left in the pic.

The coolant runs in this order through the:
Throttle body
Heater control valve (which you reconnected to the TB via the Bleeder Port as Pocket pointed out.)
Heater Core
Oil cooler

From the oil cooler it returns to the radiator throuch the "thick tube that runs under the open one."
The open one connects to the other heater port at the fire wall, but that port should have a hose that runs down along the frame through a short piece of metal tubing.

In other words if the 2 heater firewall ports have hoses then there should be another open hose near the frame rail that should connect to the "open one" in the picture.

Hope that helps.

I know I have a diagram somewhere, if you really need it let me know and I'll dig it up.
just follow the other hose at the firewall and you should find another open end, now you have 2 open ends just connect them together.

I would post pics of mine, but I've long since deleted, my TB coolant, and HVAC.

Re: help identifying possible setup problem

I connected it to the other open tube that was under the thick tube running straight back to the firewall as you said to do.
