Let's see those painted plenums and runners!
So I'm rebuilding the 305 out of my IROC and I'm wanting to see how the plenum and runners look painted, plus is it necessarily a bad thing to paint them? Cause I was told that it would hinder the heat dicapation of the units. But since they aren't heated parts cause they are part of the cold air intake paintin them shouldn't be a big deal right?
Thanks guys!

have you ever touched the plenum after running the car? they get hot. I wouldn't paint em.

Re: Let's see those painted plenums and runners!
. The plenum and runners are to transport atmospheric air into the engine. How is painting the OUTSIDE going to "hender" performance?
If anything, you'll be adding about 1-10 grams of weight to the front end. Also it does not dissipate any heat what so ever. Naturally it'll be hot to the touch because of the engines radiant heat and not to mention that the runners will transfer heat because they are bolted onto the intake manifold (which is filled with radiator fluid). If it did work like that it would be a bonus because the cooler the intake is, the colder the air into the engine would be which is good for perf
