87 Iroc LB9 305 TPI Build ?
OK guys, here's the deal. 87 Iroc LB9 305/5speed that's all original accept its cat less, 40 flowmasters, 160 thermostat, fan switch mod and a little stereo equipment.
The reason I want to keep the 305 block is to maintain the matching numbers. Over time this will pay out as the age of the car grows and the quantity of quality 3rd gen Camaros dwindles.
I would like to keep the BUILD A 350 INSTEAD out of here. If you must PM me about it if you got ant much against building the 305.
Here's where I stand right now. The car is all original matching numbers and is in such great shape that its doing nothing but going up in value as the years pass. 3rd gen's have and will always have the ****** Machine/White Trash stigma. I'm completely ok with that. I just want to build a car that would hold its own (and then some) against those panzy nay sayers.
Keep in mind I am not a V8 builder, I build race quad motors lol.
Here's what I am planning on doing and I hope some of you can chime in and tell me if there is something wrong (BESIDES THAT ITS A 305).
SO what do you guys think?

- Edelbrok Hardened push rods #9629
- Comp Cams XR264HR Cam
- 1.5 Roller Rockers
- Edelbrok TPI-Vortec Intake Manifold and High Flow TPI runners
- Powerhouse 335 Stroker Kit .030 over 10.5:1 Comp
- Probably a custom chip from Hypertech or Superchips
- Procharger Blower D-1SC
- 37 lb/hr @ 100 PSI injectors
- High flow fuel pump
- Headers probably 1-3/8's
- Strait flow exhuast

Keeping the TPI - Fine
Edelbrok Vortec Perfromer RPM E-Tec 170's Intake 1.55" Exhaust 1.94" - Should be fine for under 6k (IF THEY ARE MADE FOR THE 305 BLOCK!!)
Edelbrok Hardened push rods #9629 - yes
Comp Cams XR264HR Cam - not familiar with this cam
1.5 Roller Rockers - should be fine
Edelbrok TPI-Vortec Intake Manifold and High Flow TPI runners - yes
Powerhouse 335 Stroker Kit .030 over 10.5:1 Comp - pistons are probably dished for valves
Probably a custom chip from Hypertech or Superchips - no, custom tune
Procharger Blower D-1SC - compression from stroker kit is too high for boost
37 lb/hr @ 100 PSI injectors - drop compression
High flow fuel pump
Headers probably 1-3/8's
Strait flow exhuast

Looks like I was on the right track. Maybe if I lower the comp on the pistons to around 9.5:1 I could probably pull off the blower.
Now once I fall into 10K I'll build it.

Someone was talking about the TFS 175 heads. Those would be what I'd look into.

This will also save you the trouble ofbuying a new base just port your old one out nicely with some sanding rolls. After that get a set of runners and you'll have something really nice.
with the boost you may even consider skipping the 335 initially. Don't get me wrong the cubes are nice but that's part of the reason you get forced induction. I would also want lower compression forged pistons, high static compression with a supercharger is not the greatest of ideas.

Making all of those modifications to the 305 is going to diminish the value just as much as replacing the entire motor with a, um, it rhymes with "tree fifty".
That's of course assuming that there's any potential collectible value to these cars at all, which is another debate unto itself.

Hello Banksy!!
The best thing to do is, remove the stock numbers matching drivetrain, and replace it with the best parts that you can afford, when your done beating on the car, restore it to its former stock glory!!
This way, you'll have some value left!!
