I have another problem. Last time I posted on here was regarding a overheating problem, turns out i had tbi intake gaskets rather than the one for the tpi.

Now I have another problem. The car was running good and everything last week I woke up an started and it took a while to start. later when I got of from work I went to put gas and the car WOULD NOT START, out of no were it just wont start. now i have checked the ignition switch, starter and couple of relays and doesn't seem to be it.

Have any of you guys had the same problem? Like its weird since mine is stick i pushed it an started it, just wont turn over with the key. there is current/power once I open the switch but just wont turn over.

please any input would be appreciated.

If its TPI, check for fuel pressure at the schrader valve at the back of the intake on the fuel rail. You need to check with a gauge to see if its enough (34psi-43psi at KOEO) If thats good, then do the obvious...check for spark, check for injector pulse, check plugs to see if they get wet...try to start it on ether...if it runs on ether, then its fuel. If not, there are many threads here dealing with this issue, and I just had it too, and it took me some diggin, but I got it. My bad...read forward in your post. It wont CRANK...thats probably a neutral safety switch going bad on you.

 

yeah it wont crank at all theres power going to everything but wont crank
took the starter to test thinking it was that for some reason but its in good condition

were does that neutral safety switch go?

 

Its a switch located on the tranny, usually up top...follow the wire harness to the switch, pull it out and replace it, dont even play around with it. Its cheap and WILL leave you stranded again if not replaced.

 

is it hard to replace it?

since mine is a manual? mine still has it? or do only automatics have this?

anyother things u can think of it can be?

 

Not sure if your car has it probably does....The starter enable relay on mine caused this issue..My car its in the lower kick panel driverside..Its covered with a black protective gook ..Check for power going in the relay when cranking and power coming out of it..if no power comes out replace the relay..If relay is working could be your neutral safety switch...However before you do any of that verify you are actually getting 12v at the starter..Check your grounds as well..Hope this helps good luck

 

the problem is I have no current going to the starter.
I checked some relays on driver side near the brake booster, on the corner an there is a purple wire i believe that is NOT GETTING ANY POWER, and it goes down to the starter into the ignition switch.
I put a couple of diff relays but didnt make a difference.

im going to check if i do have that switch and replace it, its weird because it happened out of no were.

 

i would check out the clutch inter-lock swich. i cant remembor if that one is on the cluch pedal itself or is on floor. u should have power in whenever the key is on and have power out when the switch is pushed in, this supplies the 12 volt referance to the starter relay if i rember right. hope this helps a little and good luck man!

 

Could be a vats problem! when you turn the key on does the security light come on and then stay on? If it don't go off after a few seconds then it's a vats problem. This will disable the starter and fuel injectors.

i check the car an there is no security light on.
it turns on but turns off after a couple of seconds.

 

any other ideas it can be?
