Getting anxious about getting my 355 together, looking for opinions on my combo. What I got so far...rebuilt 355, LPE 219 cam, dyno dons 13/4 headers and superramm with LPE 58mm throttlebody. I was planning on a set of AFR180's, but I just found a new set of edelbrock performer 60909 for a really good price. Anybody have any experience with these heads? Goin to check them out tomorrow, would like as many opinions as possible. I'm hoping to get well into the 12's when I'm done.

We dynoed that combo with the Edelbrobk heads and the results were 310whp. If you get the heads fully ported then you can get around 340whp but the manifold will be your biggest restriction. Maybe 5hp-10hp more with the AFR180's. If you can get the manifold to flow 290+cfm's with your combo then it will be around 370-380whp and 400-410rwtq.
Thanx Vincent! I know u guys out there know what you're talking about based on what I've read. Was hoping for more power than that tho...should I save another month and step up to AFR 195's, or are they overkill for that cam? I don't wanna fall into the "bigger is better" theory. Also, from what I've read, if I get my intake extrude honed, that should be close to 290 cfm, rite?

Nope! Extrude Honed will get it to 245cfms. Stock Edelbrock Base is about 230cfm. If you can find a liget Accel Manifold it stock flow is around 240cfm.Originally Posted by zya5point0

I always figured the 219 cam with the superram were designed to work best together.

Since you already have a Super Ram then stay with it. A lot is needed but if you can get to flow around 270cfm then you would be good to go.

Vincent, Which Accell base will flow 240 cfm?

The one that says Accel on the top of the manifold.Originally Posted by Eagle223usa

I'm thinking I'm gonna go with AFR 195's. I'm gonna port my superram, then get it extrude honed. I don't have a specific hp or et goal, but I do wanna be able to beat those pesky new mustang gt's!

Vincent is exactly on the money all the way around. Make sure your heads flow well, then concentrate on the base plate. I had to do lots of welding to get where I am, and with a significantly larger engine and long-tubes, I'm only 2 HP up on Vincent.
Regarding the Edelbrock heads, I am running some E-tec 200s. All I can say is that after getting them flow-benched in stock form, Edelbrock is VERY optimistic on their flow rates. AFR, I am told, report flow numbers that are pretty true to what they ship, so if you get Edelbrocks, be prepared to spend money on porting and flow benching them. In the long run, the Edelbrocks plus porting and flow testing wind up being more money that the AFRs.
