its in time still backfire.
ok. so first this was first ive tried to start it. i got it all torn apart. stuck hose in no.1 cylinder till started blowing baloon up then turned it till it was on
'0' on pulley. dropped dizzy in and it pointed to no.1 pretty easily. but when i tried to start it 5seconds into turning key it backfired . so wat should i do?

Make sure u have the wires on right, check the firing order, if thas right check timing.

Also make sure plug wires are securely on the plugs and dist cap. I had one wire that would pop itself off just enough to cause an issue - had to use needle nose pliers and bend the inner contacts on the plug end just a tad tigher so it would stay on the plug. 3 years later it's still great - just a little tweaking thing that sometimes has to be done.

Can't really be too long - too long can get annoying and "in the way", but has no effect on operation. Maybe there's a break in one, did you check continuity on them?
Are they supposed to be cut-to-fit wires and you didn't cut them?

yea but guy before me cut them ,he obviously had great worries about shrinkage.

Only thing that causes backfire (through intake) is when the plug fires and the intake valve is still open....same for exhaust (exhaust valve open)..... Check timing and work back from there....
