No power in gear
Just swapped a 350 into my vert. I got it running this weekend, but I have a slight (big) problem. The engine seems to idle fine w or w/o the advance plugged in. I just set the initial timing and I'm about 99% sure it is on. I still need to hit it with a gun to be sure. The problem is that it seems to idle okay (a little erratic at times), and I can rev it without any backfiring that I can hear. However, when I put it in gear and try to move it (even on level ground), it bogs down and the car crawls. Simply has no power.
I did have to take out the #1 spark plug when I set it to TDC, and it looked blackened, but not completely fouled. I didn't check the others though. I'm sure the firing order is correct as I checked and double checked when I set the initial timing.
I plan to change the spark plugs. I should have done it while it was out of the car, but the motor sounded and ran great before it was pulled out of the other car.
Is there anything else I should look at? What else could cause this behavior other than timing or fouled plugs? I just replaced the fuel filter and pump in this car last fall. I'm fairly certain they're still good.
Oh, and one of the only mods on the engine is 24lbs. fuel injectors. If the plugs are fouled, I'm sure that's why. Would a reprogram take care of this?
Thanks,

Re: No power in gear
I feel like an idiot... sort of. Turns out the tranny fluid was a little low. I lost more than I thought when I did the swap and didn't check it after I started the motor. Of course, the motor was running a bit rough (timing) when I first fired it up, but I should have checked it before attempting to move the car. I hope I didn't do too much damage, if any at all. I didn't move it far, and everything sounds fine, so probably not.
Thanks for looking.
