I need to wake up my l98 but i need help
This is the first post I'm making on thirdgen my car is a 92 z28 its got the l98 in it and its a G92 car. I've already got a flowmaster 8 series along with the 3in catback on it. I'm planning on doing a t56 conversion this spring and having the car completely repainted. I'm completely clueless as to what intake manifold is good for a l98, im interested in those slp runners because I've heard they can increase the power band and give you a little bit of hp. i need help finding the correct intake manifold and correct set of heads to match up with it. also im looking for the best set of short tube headers for a G92 car.

Holly stealth ram would be the way to go. Talking Big HP gains. My old L98 G92 T/A. I did the BBK 58mm throttle body, Ported and polished everything from the throttle body to the heads, Didn't do a whole lot, moved the power band up a couple hundred RPM. The TPI just doesn't breath enough for the L98.

First I would not use the Flowmaster, get a Magnaflow instead.
AFR heads would be the best choice.
And a set of my headers, for the best shorty's.
To keep the SLP runners, get an Edelbrock 3860 base.

what about a Weiand stealth ram intake manifold? i know you need a fuel rail but do i need a special set of heads for it ? can i expect big gains with it ? will this go right on and fit a stock l98 setup?

Compared to a factory stock TPI its a major upgrade. As compared with a fully upgraded TPI it offers a little more HP potential, but you have to be willing to rev higher to get it.
If you have a L98 a HSR is the best bang for the buck intake you can buy.
With the HSR you can have it for about $650 on the car. Still need to tune it though.
TPI is more expensive to upgrade when you consider the price of an upgraded base, runners, and finally porting the plenum.
If you get all of the parts you can take your old stock TPI stuff clean it up and sell it to some hot-rod guy who doesn't care about looks, but rather how freaking awesome it looks on an engine.
TPI is one of the coolest looking intakes I've ever seen on a car.

the stealth ram with bolt to stock heads. or any heads with the 86+ standard bolt pattern. you can bolt it to 85 and older bolt pattern heads if you modify the center bolt holes. if you get into vortec heads things get different and you need a vortec specific base.

And you can order square bevelled washers from McMasterCarr for about $10 shipped that will adapt an HSR to run on later style heads without paying the $70 or $80 for the crap they sell on summit.
You can see them installed on the car here:

McMasterCarr Part# 92810A130. I had to clearance the inner diameter a bit because there was some casting flash on mine, but wasn't anything I couldn't do real fast with a bit of light sandpaper.

Do you think I will get a good hp gain and increase the power band just using the Weiand stealth ram intake manifold on top of the stock heads. if not are there a set of heads that might work well with this intake ?

Re: I need to wake up my l98 but i need help
the bottlenck in the stock tpi system isnt the heads, its the tpi itself. it just cant breath enough air at higher rpms. replacing that with something that can will see an increase even with stock heads. hsr with good flowing exhaust will be a big improvement. better heads (or some port work on the stockers), cam and a tune will be even more so.

The bar is great. But I'd do cold air intake, headers, and a cat ack before intake mods.
