engine light problems !!!!!!!!!!!

MY ENGINE COMES ON AND OFF IT'S TRICKY WHEN I WAKE UP IN THE MORNING TO TURN IT ON THE LIGHT IS OFF BUT AFTER A WHILE THE LIGHT COMES ON ALSO WHEN IT'S REALLY COLD AT NIGHT THE ENGINE LIGHT WILL COME OFF ON FIRST START BUT EVENTUALLY WILL COM BACK ON...I ALSO NOTICE THE CAR RUNS STRONGER WITH LIGHT OFF BUT WITH IT ON IT FEELS LIK IT'S WORKING HARDER AND SUGGESTIONS?????

After you pull your codes, you might want to check your caps lock, and also post a little information like is this a maf or speed density tpi year ect...

when I try to pull the codes nothing pops up nd also it's a 1987 camaro z28

check the O2 and the MAF. If the sensor connection on either is loose or isn't making constant connection, the light will come on and, the car will run ruff. I would start at the MAF connection. I have an 87 5.7 and, if the MAF sensor isn't connected the check engine light comes on and, the car Idles ruff.

what is the 02??? and I jst replaced the MAF SENSOR but I haven't did the connection yet....I'll try it

there is a sensor on the driver side exhaust manifold ( assuming they haven't been changed out to headers). that reads the exhaust info to the computer.

It will be down the manifold going towards the pipes.
Is your car a 5.7 with smog regulations?

I would suspect the 1227165 ecm. If it is throwing a code but not storing it.
