Yes. Take the FPR vacuum line off of the TB and do a key-on. Watch for fuel exiting the line (be careful). If so then the FPR is bad.

If not, it can also be from the CCP system. If the vent and return lines at the tank get switched while replacing the fuel pump it will send raw fuel through the charcoal canister. Same deal for checking, remove CCP line from TB, key-on and look for fuel (be careful).

Re: Need help no start plenum full of gas

Fuel in the plenum is a very high indication of a ripped FPR, and to confirm this you can take the vacuum line of the FPR, turn the key forward to prime the pump without starting it and fuel will shoot out of the little vacuum port.

As for it not starting I guess it could be ripped so bad that too much fuel is getting through and flooding it. Replace the regulator first and see if it fixes it. Cheapest place I found mine was Hawks for around $47 but autozone and oreillys had it for $70. I think the savings was worth the week of shipping I had to wait for.

In this case also check the injectors. If they are the stock original ones they are most likely shorting out by now. In this case the engine won't run or will run badly as the ECM can't properly fire the injectors.

They need to be above 12 ohms to be OK. If you get the engine running check the resistance hot.

Re: Need help no start plenum full of gas

Keep playing with timing and such at the distributor. Verify the ignition components are working. Good coil/cap/ignition module/ etc. Old stuff can be rusted or corroded.

Re: Need help no start plenum full of gas

I know the cap and rotor are new and so is the coil but not to sure about the ignition module or pick up coil I have a new pick up coil sitting here so I'll just install it and see what happens.

Re: Need help no start plenum full of gas

Ok the coil checked out good, I put in a new ignition control module and spark plugs, the pick up coil ohmed at 815. I tried putting starter fluid and just back fired through the intake also while cranking there's a popping sound from the intake like it wants to start but can't and if I open the throttle it back fires through the intake I checked the firing order everything seemed right maybe the catalytic converter got plugged from the leaking fpr, the lady I bought it from said it would stall at stop lights or stop signs and one day she tried to start it and it wouldnt start just cranked over

Sounds like the timing is off. did you unhook the "set timing connector" thats over by the pass strut tower?
