Identifying my ECM.

I am trying to purchase a new ECM and the parts store says they have two options for my car. How do I find out which one is the one I need? Thanks.

Has a '165 ECM
GM service # 1227165
Replacement versions may be numbered 16198259 or 16198445
Same ECM version used for all '86- '89 TPI cars ; F-Body or Vette , 305 or 350ci

And I would be buying a used ECM ; always available in for sale dept under $50

Re: Identifying my ECM.

Hi really need help - i have a 89 iroc z28, 5.7L 350 standard that runs lousy bought last fall - winter stored, now has chunky idol right from start up - changed fuel filter, spark plugs and wires and reconditioned msf, had garage run scan and still showing bad code for msf was told could be overridden with a speed density chip ?? or cracked wire is there any way I can tell what will fix it without spending another small fortune?

More testing needed .Takes more than just replacing the MAF unit

Not without changing the computer
Will get better response if you start a new question about your engine problem
