Iroc revs to 20rpms
What can I do to check and fix this. Everytime I start my car it revs up to 20rpms what can I do to fix this it's getting annoying bcus everywhere I go they can't seem to fix it so I'm gonna try and fix it myself. Can someone tell me what to look for or do?

Does it idle down within 10 seconds? It is normal on fuel injected engines for them to idle up on start up, then settle down to normal idle speed. 2,000 rpm is a little high, 1,500 is more normal. Has the base idle been adjusted up for some reason?

It does go down between 10-15 secs but is it normal to do it everytime I start the car. And I don't know if the base idle has been adjusted how can I check that? Does the throttle screw have anything to do with it?

Yes, its normal for them to have a slight high idle right after startup and then settle down. 2000rpms sounds alittle high though for it. Where does it idle once its settle down and warm?

I would suspect that the base idle has been raised a little. Stock ECM controlled idle on warm engine idle is about 550-600 in drive maybe 650 in park.
The idle stop screw is what determines base idle. You may want to perform the base idle setting procedure, or just use a torx 30 and back the idle stop screw out 1/4 to 1/2 turn. Then disconnect the battery for 30 seconds to reset the ECM so it can relearn idle control. Be aware that once the ECM is reset, the idle will act weird for a little while the first time the engine is run.

Sorry I forgot to mention this. It is common to find where the base idle has been raised to compensate for worn throttle shaft bushings that can cause the throttle to stick if set at the factory base setting. Be aware of this as you go to adjust base idle.
