oil seeping from oil fill cap on valve cover

one thing at a time, i guess, but now i have oil pissing out of the oil fill cap on the valve cover (stock)... when it was discovered, i was running a breather on same valve cover vs. pcv valve in an effort to determine if oil was going in to the intake via the pcv. since i don't want to hook the pcv back up just yet, i then ran a "vent hose" out of the pcv port to isolate the oil coming from it or the cap. it's coming out of the cap and pools up on the cover... never had this issue before, but anymore i'm not surprised by anything that pops up on this car... those caps are just a screw-in cap, but i never looked to see if it has a gasket on it or not... never had to think about it.

I think they have a O-ring.
When you put breathers on the valve covers it takes away the small amount of vac in the crankcase system an that can cause leaks.

I do seem to remember an o-ring on them.
PCV is a good thing. I would still run it, just add in a catch can.

thanks - makes sense to me. i will check the cap for an o-ring when i get home and hook the pcv up to it, as well. i'm about done isolating the potential "oil induction" issue anyway. appreciate the response...

Oil pissing, that is good. It's a phrase I use frequently. Let us stop pissing around and get something done. So on and so forth, what you pissing around for?? It is better to be pissed off than pissed on. **** just has a ring to it. Sorry for babbling.

yes, and we are done pissing... once i put the pcv back to the correct configuration, "pissing" out of the oil fill cap stopped. imagine that. and apparently that was my overall oil "pissing" issue, too, as there are no more "****" drops anywhere. but initially i had to "vent" it instead to be sure no oil was being ingested in to the intake thru there. should never happen, but stranger things have happened... i did, however, use clear tubing so i could see if any oil is going thru there... a few more odds-n-ends to check on it and time for a dyno run.

I had similar issue, mine didn't leak bad, but it did leaked enough to mess the valve cover. I tried replacing the cap for used ones 2 times, and it still leaked. I eventually bought a new ACDelco cap, they have a new design for it, and it helped.
