Tpi won't run

Hi I wonder if you can help my tpi in my pop has been running fine ,not on the road yet ,it's in a 48 anglia with party's ECM and loom ,the other nite it fired fine , next day irked up again but I noticed it was popping through the exhaust , day after wouldn't start tried and tried managed just to catch it to fire but was running very lumpy has if was flooded or down on spark , any ways I thought if the timing was out has the dizzy is till bait loose (small cap type ) so I unplugged the est wire and tried to move the dizzy round now I carnt get it to start again ,took plugs out and were wet ,wiped them put them back ,it sounds like its firing but I carnt just get it to fire up ,I do have spark , reads 40plus psi on fuel reg ,any ideas batt slowly dying has well is it just a trial putting more power on batt and try turning the dizzy to get it going

Could waste a lot of time and batteries doing that .

Only way is to go back to the start and set the static dizzy timing ( #1 TDC ) using the mark on the balancer .
(Google how to set timing on a SBC )

Then once it starts you disconnect the EST connector and use a timing light to set the timing exactly where it
should be instead of guessing

Then when you get it running you pull the engine codes to see if there anything wrong causing your running problems

Make sure that NO#1 cylinder is up on TDC on the (Compression Stroke) not (exhaust stroke) or your timing will be off 180 degrees

You can disconnect your ALDL wire prior to attempting to start it. It should start providing you have your wires in the right sequence 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 on the distrib cap. And your distrib has to be fairly close but not exact to start also. Then use your timing light to set your timing.

Classic thing that I discovered. Once your plugs get fuel saturated, don't reuse them, Replace them. I have tried to reused old plugs by burning off the excess fuel and it just doesn't work as well as getting new plugs.
