Air box questions

I have no idea if this belongs in the tpi category but it has to do with the tpi air box. I am using the air box along with a carburator bonnet to do a sort of "cold air" type intake. Originally the base model 86 of mine had the blank filler panel in the area where the lower airbox would go. Problem is the clips holding the panel in broke when I tried removing them, does anyone have any idea where I can find replacements. Or a way to change them out with screws or bolts?

Re: Air box questions

Good idea. I ended up finding some gm bumper clips that are almost identical to the originals. Now that Ive solved that problem, when I purchased the upper and lower air boxes it didn't come with the little chrome winged 1/4 or 1/2 turn(can't remember exactly) screws that hold the 2 pieces together. Anyone have any clue on a part number or a decent replacement idea?

Example: little chrome wing nut parts in this pic

Re: Air box questions

I used to have some of those wing gizmos around. I'll look around and see if I can find 'em.

Dzus fasteners, aka quarter turn fasteners.

Re: Air box questions

Gotcha. The airbox I bought didn't have any in it. So this may be challenging.

Re: Air box questions

Will someone do me a huge favor and measure the dzus fasteners on their air boxes and help me find out what size I need?

Re: Air box questions

Are there little coil springs under the fasteners and on top of the airbox? Or is it just the fastener. I found some dzus fasteners but the only ones with little coil springs have a reinforcement plate on it.

Re: Air box questions

Yea, I'll let 'em go man. I have no use for 'em.

4 shorter ones and 2 that are longer. Might be good to make sure that's what ya need. I'm pretty sure they all same out of the same car, but it's been along time. LOL

Got your PM. Make it 10 bucks shipped and I'll be happy.
