Injector giving fuel to one side

My engine was purring like a kitten, so I went inside to use the bathroom. When I went back outside to take it for a spin around the block, it was idling very badly. I though it might be miss-firing, but all the plugs are getting juice and are brand new. After doing some searching and reading on thirdgen.com I had the idea to disconnect the injectors one by one. Well, when each injector on the driver side bank was unplugged, the engine idle changed. When I did the passenger side, but the engine didn't even notice. I checked ever connecter with a 12v test light (I probably should have used my digital multimeter) and it lit up. Next I listened for them clicking with the screwdriver touching the injector and the handle up to my ear. Only the two for cylinder 6 and 8 are not clicking, but 2 and 4 are clicking. I am thinking that I may have to purchase a noid tester to check it. I also checked the resistance of the injectors and they all ranged between 16.1- 16.8 ohms

KOEO , check the other pin for ground, should have open circuit
If you have ground fault in the injector control wiring back to the ECM ( or a shorted injector ) the ECM will drop that whole bank out

Re: Injector giving fuel to one side

Would two of them still be clicking, because looking at the wiring diagram that whole bank fires at the same time. Does the one side of the engine share the fuel that is discharged from those injectors every time that bank of injectors fire?

They do but you said disconnecting the injectors in that bank made no difference to the engine running so reasonable to assume they are not
working or spraying even if they are clicking ?

The fuel is only sprayed into the cylinder that the injector is on

Re: Injector giving fuel to one side

So, maybe the 2 that are clicking, aren't opening enough to allow a noticeable amount of fuel out. Tomorrow I will run a test wire (Because the leads on my multimeter are not long enough to go from the cab to the engine bay) from the injector connection (specifically the wire that goes to the ECM) into the cab. Then unplug the ECM and check the continuity of that wire and the wire for that bank of injectors. I just want to make sure I don't have a broken wire in there somewhere.

If 2 are clicking, safe to assume the control wiring from injectors to the ECM is intact ,
the whole bank is switched so no way 2 can be controlled and 2 not

As you already observed from the circuit diagram ;
there is only one power supply wire in and a one control wire out for each bank of injectors

Right, so the injectors are either clogged,or dead? I guess I will have to buy some new injectors.

Re: Injector giving fuel to one side

I found the problem! The connecter at the ecm is intermittent. It is connected, but not making very good contact. Also, you were right. None of the injectors on the passenger side were injecting. The clicking I heard must have been radiating up from the valve train. I am going to order some DeOxIt to apply to the connection.

Re: Injector giving fuel to one side

I got the DeOxiT in today! I applied it to the prongs on the ECM and on the connector for it as well. I worked it in and out let it sit for a little while. Then before I plugged it in for one last time I applied some more. Works great now! I wiggled the wire all kinds of different ways, but not stumble from the engine. I would highly recommend for anyone to put DeOxIT on all the computer controlled circuitry connectors, I sure did!
