Fuel Rail rebuild, found something interesting inside...

Founds this in one of the cross over rails by the regulator. I couldn't find anything on it in any manuals or after searching the boards. What is it's function and do I need it? I've been told it restricts gas flow or helps regulate pressure? Thanks.

Hard to tell the actual size, but I wonder if it is an injector filter basket. That came loose and found it's way into the fuel rail. If it were me I don't think that it would be placed back into the rail. I know of no reason for something like that to be there.

You're welcome, it just looked too strange to belong there. Glad to be of help.

I've also seen the pintle caps fall off of injectors and plug the injector port. Note that not all injectors have the plastic caps. But if they do need to check the port when installing new injectors.
