Gas pushing out the cap(GMtech, vader)

My fuel pump went out last tues and after replacing it, the first time i filled the tank up completely , it has started to leak gas out of the gas cap ! I did slightly bend the opening from round to oval, but i bent it carefully back to round and am still experiencing this problem(even after picking up a 2nd gas cap)... the one thing i know i did, was that i know for sure that i snapped the fuel tank vent valve bottom half off when i removed it from the frame mount to get the tank down and out all the way.....I've gone over all of my work and dbl checked all lines for the correct routing and outside of the vent valve and making the filler neck once again round i havent had too touch anythign else? have u experienced this before? I work on jags and have never had anythign like this happen to me ....please let me know your opinions
I am going to order a vent valve for the tank from work t'row
(holidays are killing me with parts :-) )
thanks guys

Ordered a fuel tank vent valve should have by t'row, would this being stuck closed cause the tank to pull a vacuum and collapse the tank enuff when full to push fuel out the filler neck?

Problem goes away after level drops to about 3/4 tank or less
thanks
please reply if u have had any symptoms like this occur before please

I can't say I have ever had problems with the cap sealing..... I mean the cap is supposed to be a sealed unit and the tank should only vent into the charcoal canister (when in full stock trim) ...... If that valve is toast, the tank can collapse and cause problems with stressing out the fuel pump prematurely due to the vacuum that will be present in the tank..... But for that to happen the cap would really have to seal perfectly or the vacuum would never build up.... weird.......

ON one of these pages some one told about the soldier seal on the neck being broken after a pump replacement, you may check that.
