Re: Failed CA smog please help

What is your timing at? Also check your egr. The high NO levels suggests your egr isn't functioning properly.

Timing is at 6 degrees, I guess new egr is in the new parts list to buy.

I would target the EGR valve.

Re: Failed CA smog please help

Another part that fails is the egr vacuum solenoid by the distributor.

Re: Failed CA smog please help

Game plan is removing the plenum and replacing the EGR valve, solenoid, and fuel regulator since I am already their and its the original 240,000 mile one, replace the manifold air temperature sensor (spontaneously received a code 25 SES), and verify all vacuum lines. Fingers crossed.

Double check the egr passages as well to make sure they are clear.

It will require emissions testing forever, anything 1975 and newer requires emissions. It will never matter how old the car gets.

Re: Failed CA smog please help

The EGR solenoid looks to be missing a vacuum hose.

Re: Failed CA smog please help

The missing line runs to the bottom of the throttle body. So your egr wasn't getting any vacuum to work. Looks like you found the problem
