How much power will this pick up?
Engine is a 1989 LB9 305.
Thinking of going with World Products iron S/R Torquer 305 heads, Comp Cams XFI268 cam, and shorty headers (Dons or Hookers, no AIR).
Down the road when I have some more money to burn I'll probably add a stealth ram, but for now I'll be keeping the factory TPI in place.
Already running 22lb injectors. Also going to an S-10 stall (about 2200).
Just for the street, no track time, no racing.
What kind of power will I pick up with that head/cam/header swap?
And how much more power will the Stealth Ram add? I know the TPI will keep me maxed out around 5000rpm and the stealth ram will increase that, I'm fine with that for now.
Don't want to move to a 350. Don't want to do an LS swap
Thoughts?
Thanks.

Save a lil more money and go 350.

Upgrade the cam if you're feeling adventurous.
Why? More power to start with. Fresh short block. Greater potential down the road. Won't leave you with 305 specific parts that no one will want later on, when you've decided you should have gotten a 350.
Just throwin it out there.

If you didn't want to go to a 350 block, what about using aluminum heads at least?? They flow better and you save a little more weight over the iron heads. I'm not talking a ton, but the flow on them would probably help you pick up some more power as well.

Re: How much power will this pick up?
Only aluminum heads for a 305 would generally be L98 vettes, trickflow 175 small bores or the gm fastburns which are a larger port than needed and overpriced imo
Small bore 305 cant use a valve over 2” else the valve will hit the bore at modest cam lifts

Good, I saw that in the other thread.
I guess I did screw it up. I was trying to show you this: https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/engi...pi-roller.html
but you figured it out.
